3D Concrete Printing of Triply Periodic Minimum Surfaces for Enhanced Carbon Capture and Storage

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A 3D‐printable and carbon‐capturing concrete is developed by replacing cement with diatomaceous earth (DE), which enhances rheology, provides hierarchical porosity, and serves as a nucleation site for carbonation. Maximum absorption of 488.7 gCO2 kgcement−1 is achieved in 7 days, a 142% increase over conventional concrete, and the triply periodic ...

Characteristic Matrices and Trellis Reduction for Tail-Biting Convolutional Codes [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2017
Basic properties of a characteristic matrix for a tail-biting convolutional code are investigated. A tail-biting convolutional code can be regarded as a linear block code. Since the corresponding scalar generator matrix Gt has a kind of cyclic structure, an associated characteristic matrix also has a cyclic structure, from which basic properties of a ...

Kirigami‐Inspired Breathable Smart Contact Lens for Wireless Monitoring of Corneal Hypoxia and Microenvironment

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A kirigami‐inspired breathable smart contact lens is reported for wireless monitoring of corneal hypoxia and microenvironment. The ultrathin (55 µm) and flexible sensing device enables digitalized, in situ and precise monitoring of dissolved oxygen, humidity, and temperature (R2 >0.98).

Approximate Linear Time ML Decoding on Tail-Biting Trellises in Two Rounds [PDF]

open access: yesProc. ISIT 2006, pp.2245-2249, 2006
A linear time approximate maximum likelihood decoding algorithm on tail-biting trellises is prsented, that requires exactly two rounds on the trellis. This is an adaptation of an algorithm proposed earlier with the advantage that it reduces the time complexity from O(mlogm) to O(m) where m is the number of nodes in the tail-biting trellis.

Engineering Assembloids to Mimic Graft‐Host Skeletal Muscle Interaction

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This study develops a graft‐host skeletal muscle assembloid model combining neuromuscular organoids with tissue‐engineered constructs. Pre‐seeding decellularized muscles with myogenic cells enhances cell migration and axon invasion from the organoid. The model exhibits regenerative capacity following acute damage, advancing the understanding of human ...

Association between anterior open bite and impact on quality of life of preschool children

open access: yesBrazilian Oral Research, 2015
The aim of this study was to evaluate the association between different types of malocclusion and the impact on quality of life among preschoolers and their families. A cross-sectional study was carried out involving 451 children 3-5 years of age.
