Effectiveness of intra-articular lidocaine injection for reduction of anterior shoulder dislocation: randomized clinical trial

open access: yesSão Paulo Medical Journal
CONTEXT AND OBJECTIVE: Shoulder dislocation is the most common dislocation among the large joints. The aim here was to compare the effectiveness of reduction of acute anterior shoulder dislocation with or without articular anesthesia. DESIGN AND SETTING:

Does polymixis complicate prediction of high‐frequency dissolved oxygen in lakes and reservoirs?

open access: yesLimnology and Oceanography, EarlyView.
Abstract As lake and reservoir ecosystems transition across major environmental regimes (e.g., mixing regime) resulting from anthropogenic change, setting predictive expectations is imperative. We tested the hypothesis that (dissolved) oxygen is more predictable in monomictic reservoirs that thermally stratify throughout the summer (warm) season ...

Investigation of mechanical and physicochemical properties of additively manufactured underutilized wood‐PLA biocomposites

open access: yesPolymer Composites, EarlyView.
3D‐printed biocomposite reinforced with underutilized wood fibers, demonstrating enhanced mechanical properties. Abstract Despite Canada's abundant biomass resources, a significant portion remains underutilized due to a lack of large‐scale industrial applications. This research explores the utilization of low‐value biomass, specifically aspen fiber, in

Arthroscopic Management and Radiographic Interpretation of an Everted Bony Bankart Lesion

open access: yesCase Reports in Orthopedics, 2018
Soft tissue injuries are prevalent after traumatic anterior shoulder dislocation. However, bony fractures, often referred to as bony Bankart injuries, are less common.

Racial disparities in patients with amputation in an acute care setting in the immediate postoperative period

open access: yesPM&R, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Racial disparities are present in the U.S. medical system and lead to detrimental health outcomes and reduced quality of life for many patients. These can be seen in the increased number of amputations among patients from underrepresented minority groups, in addition to differences in access to appropriate rehabilitation care in ...

Uniaxial Molecular Alignment in Thin Films Composed of Discrete NDI‐T2 Oligomers Investigated by Variable‐Angle Spectroscopic and Imaging Ellipsometry

open access: yesphysica status solidi (b), EarlyView.
Uniaxially anisotropic optical models are used to analyze spectroscopic ellipsometry data of thin films of discrete oligomers consisting of alternating units of naphthalene diimide (NDI) and bithiophene (T2). They point to a possible preferred molecular orientation parallel to the substrate surface in thermally crystallized films.

An original closed reduction technique for acute shoulder dislocation: the wrist-clamping and shoulder-lifting

open access: yesInternational Journal of Emergency Medicine
Background Acute anterior shoulder dislocation is one of the most common injuries in emergency medicine and orthopaedics. The aim of this study is to introduce a new closed reduction technique: the wrist-clamping and shoulder-lifting, for manual ...
