Glycerol-3-phosphate acyltransferases (GPATs), critical for multiple biological processes like male fertility, have been extensively characterized. However, their precise functions and underlying regulatory mechanism in cotton anther development are ...

Microspore embryogenesis in barley: anther pre-treatment stimulates plant defence gene expression
Microspore embryogenesis (ME) is a process in which the gametophytic pollen programme of the microspore is reorientated towards a new embryo sporophytic programme.

Anther Ontogeny and Microsporogenesis in Helianthus annuus L. (Compositae)
In this study, anther ontogeny and microsporogenesis were analysed in Helianthus annuus L. The undifferentiated anther is ovoid-shaped and the differentiation starts with the appearance of archesporial cells. Mature anthers are tetrasporangiate.

Suppression of expression of DAF [DEFECTIVE IN ANTHER DEHISCENCE1 (DAD1)-Activating Factor], a gene that encodes a putative RING-finger E3 ligase protein, causes non-dehiscence of the anthers, alters pollen development and causes sterility in 35S:DAF ...

SPL8, an SBP-box gene that affects pollen sac development in Arabidopsis [PDF]
SQUAMOSA PROMOTER BINDING PROTEIN-box genes (SBP-box genes) encode plant-specific proteins that share a highly conserved DNA binding domain, the SBP domain.

Oligonucleotide‐based fluorescence in situ hybridization probes were developed in the model citrus species Citrus maxima. These probes were applied to comparative karyotyping across 14 species in the Rutaceae family. This analysis revealed chromosomal evolution in lineages that diverged from Citrus nearly 52 million years ago.

Understanding the role of gibberellin signalling in wheat anther development during heat stress [PDF]
High temperature (HT) stress during wheat male reproductive development causes irreversible damage to the anther tapetum layer and the developing microspores it supports, resulting in reduced yield.

The polyamines such as putrescine, spermidine, and spermine were reported to increase green plant regeneration in rice anther culture. Low response of anther culture of rice sub-species indica may be improved with the addition of putrescine in the ...

Achieving High‐Density and Stress‐Resilient Maize Breeding Via Germplasm Innovation
Global population growth and climate change have exacerbated the global food crisis. This perspective presents a conceptual framework focusing on enhancing population advantages. Several novel breeding objectives are proposed to improve density tolerance and stress resistance for yield improvement.

ABSTRACT Viruses often hijack host developmental programs to promote infection, but the mechanistic links between reproductive regulation and antiviral immunity remain incompletely understood. Here, we identify a virus‐triggered hierarchical degradation cascade that links antiviral immunity and fertility regulation in rice. We show that the rice grassy
