Gibberellins and antheridiogen on sex in Blechnum spicant L.

open access: yesPlant Cell Reports, 2006
The role of gibberellins (GAs) in determining sex in the gametophyte of the fern Blechnum spicant L. was studied through (a) the effect of exogenous GA(4+7) and GA3 (b) quantitation of the endogenous levels of GA1, GA3, GA4, GA7, GA9, and GA20 in male and female gametophytes, and (c) the effect of flurprimidol, a GAs biosynthesis inhibitor of the steps

Isolation of the Antheridiogen of Anemia phyllitidis

open access: yesPhysiologia Plantarum, 1972
The antheridiogen (antheridium-inducing substance) of the fern species Anemia phyllitidis has been obtained in pure form based on the isolation procedure described below. Pure antheridiogen is active to a dilution of 10 μg/l in antheridium formation and 0.3 μg/l in dark-germination. Its molecular formula is C19H22O5.

Partial characterization of an antheridiogen of Anemia mexicana: Comparison with the antheridiogen of A. phyllitidis

open access: yesPlanta, 1987
An antheridiogen of Anemia mexicana Klotzsch has been partially characterized by combined gas chromatography-mass spectrometry and gas chromatography-Fourier transform/infra-red spectrometry. It is a C19-gibberellin(GA)-like compound with one carboxyl group, an exocyclic methylene group and a lactone ring.
