Control failure risk, resistance and enzymatic activity of neurotoxic insecticides in Brazilian populations of Leucoptera coffeella (Lepidoptera: Lyonetiidae)

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
Bioassays of 36 Leucoptera coffeella populations revealed resistance to neurotoxic insecticides, control failures of ≤62.9% and enzyme activity variation, with particularly high GST and low AChE levels. Abstract Background Leucoptera coffeella is a key pest of coffee crops in Brazil, causing significant damage by mining coffee leaves.

Refuge by day, forage by night: Diel activity of vine weevil as characterised by smart monitoring

open access: yesAgricultural and Forest Entomology, EarlyView.
Vine weevil activity was monitored using a Smart trap, which recorded diel refuge‐seeking behaviour. Increasing light intensity triggered refuge seeking behaviour, while lower light intensity induced forage seeking activity. Understanding vine weevil diel activity can enhance early detection, which can improve the effectiveness of integrated pest ...

Responses of Fruit Flies (Diptera: Tephritidae) to Protein Bait Applied at Different Densities

open access: yesJournal of Applied Entomology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The effectiveness of odour‐based lures for insects is related to their active space, the air volume around an odour source in which an insect will detect and move towards it. This principle applies to protein baits laced with toxicants that are used as either sprays or stations to suppress pest fruit fly populations.

The genome and stage‐specific transcriptomes of the carrot weevil, Listronotus oregonensis, reveal adaptive mechanisms for host specialisation and symbiotic interactions

open access: yesInsect Molecular Biology, Volume 35, Issue 2, Page 126-138, April 2026.
Comprehensive genome and stage‐specific transcriptomes reveal 14,637 genes in Listronotus oregonensis, advancing genetic insights into a key agricultural pest. Compared with related species, L. oregonensis exhibits reduced chemoreceptor gene families but expanded detoxification gene clusters, reflecting its narrow host range and adaptability.

Temperature-dependent development and reproduction of the boll weevil (Coleoptera: Curculionidae) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Effects of temperature on development, survival, and fecundity of boll weevil, Anthonomus grandis grandis Boheman, were assessed at 10, 11, 12, 15,20,25,30,35,45, and 46 °C; 65% relative humidity; and a photoperiod of 13:11 (L: D) h.

Reproductive Status of Boll Weevils During Season and Off‐Season of Cotton in the Cerrado of Brazil

open access: yesEntomologia Experimentalis et Applicata, Volume 174, Issue 2, Page 113-122, February 2026.
Cotton boll weevils were monitored continuously and counted weekly over two agricultural years in the Brazilian Cerrado. The survey resulted in a total of 94 519 adults captured in approximately similar percentages of females and males during both the growing and off‐seasons.
