Mitochondrial Genomes of Anthozoa (Cnidaria)

1995
The complete nucleotide sequences of the mitochondrial (mt) DNA molecules of the sea anemone, Metridium senile , and the sea pansy, Renilla kolikeri , have been analyzed. Both of these anthozoan mtDNAs contain genes for the same thirteen proteins and two rRNAs found in most other metazoan mtDNAs.

Regeneration in youngBunodactis verrucosa Pennant (actinaria, anthozoa)

Wilhelm Roux's Archives of Developmental Biology, 1981
YoungBunodactis verrucosa Pennant at the 12 tentacle stage are employed to test the applicability of the polar coordinate model to coelenterate regeneration. The animals are cut along every radius into fragments of 3 to 9 segments. Most fragments are patent 3-4 weeks later, but small fragments have a higher mortality rate than large fragments.

Colonial conduction systems in the Anthozoa: Octocorallia

Journal of Experimental Biology, 1975
ABSTRACT The octocorals Alcyonium digitatum, Pennatula phosphorea and Virgularía mirabilis each have a through-conducting nerve net. The nerve net demonstrated electrophysiologically may well be the same as that previously shown by the use of histological techniques.

Generation of bilateral symmetry in Anthozoa: A model

Journal of Theoretical Biology, 2007
Polyps of Anthozoa usually display bilateral symmetry with respect to their mouth opening, to their pharynx, and in particular to the arrangement of their mesenteries. Mesenteries, which are endodermal folds running from the apical to the basal end of the body, subdivide the gastric cavity into pouches. They form in a bilateral symmetric sequence.

(Cnidaria: Anthozoa)

Two new paralcyoniid octocorals from Japan (Anthozoa: Alcyonacea)

Zootaxa, 2013
Two new species of paralcyoniid octocorals are described from Japan. One of them, Ceeceenus retractus n. sp., is the fifth species of the genus, and the other, Nanalcyon sagamiense n. gen. n. sp., is proposed as a new genus. Nanalcyon is similar to the Mediterranean and Atlantic genera Maasella Poche, 1914 and Paralcyonium Milne Edwards and Haime, 1850,
