The Significance of the A1—A2 Blood Groups in European Anthropogeography
Geografiska Annaler, 1959The A1 and A, blood groups were discovered by Thomsen, Freidenreich and Worsaae in 1930. BOYD (1950) has emphasized the anthropological importance of the A2 subgroup and points out that it seems to be present mainly in European and African populations. The A,-gene is evidently absent in many American and Asiatic populations.
