Index for quality control in anthropometric surveys

International Journal of Industrial Ergonomics, 2004
Abstract In an anthropometric measurement process, there are many factors which are error sources even if the observers are highly trained. Systematic or bias errors are possible and they are not clearly noticeable. In this work we propose two simple and adimensional indices to use in the quality control of anthropometric surveys.

Ponderal Index: An Important Anthropometric Indicator for Physical Growth

Journal of Innovations in Medical Research, 2023
The Ponderal Index (PI) is an essential measure to study physical growth of fetus, infants, newborn babies, adolescents, and adults. Lower PI is found among the malnourish infants and newborn babies and higher in obese ones. PI is also applied in maternity treatment to detect impaired fetal growth.

Fetal Head Circumference as an Anthropometric Index

2012
The present chapter focuses attention on head circumference measurement – an anthropometric parameter – in growing fetuses using ultrasound machine. This is to provide information and glimpse into the nature of the growth velocity during fetal development and to suggest the need for its further studies in the future.

A New modified anthropometric haller index obtained without radiological exposure

The International Journal of Cardiovascular Imaging, 2018
To validate a new modified method for measuring the anthropometric Haller index (HI), obtained without radiological exposure. This new method was based on the use of a rigid ruler and of a 2.5 MHz ultrasound transducer for the assessment of latero-lateral and antero-posterior chest diameters, respectively. We enrolled 100 consecutive patients (mean age

Relation between index finger width and hand width anthropometric measures

2009 Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society, 2009
Measures of hand and finger anthropometry are very important for designing many hand held devices as well as understanding anthropometric effects on the operation of such devices. Many historical datasets have measured and recorded gross hand dimensions but do not often record the finer dimensions of the hand such as finger anthropometry.
