Antibiofilm and Anti-Candidal Activities of the Extract of the Marine Sponge Agelas dispar

Mycopathologia, 2021
This study aimed to determine the antifungal and antibiofilm activities of Agelas dispar on biofilm-producing Candida species. The methanolic extract of A. dispar was obtained and the fraction Ag2 showed inhibitory activity for all 13 Candida strains tested, in concentrations ranging from 2.5 to 0.15625 mg/mL.

Clindamycin enhances murine delayed-type hypersensitivity and anti-candidal activity

Journal of Antimicrobial Chemotherapy, 1989
The contact sensitivity response of mice to dinitrofluorobenzene (DNFB), as determined by an epicutaneous painting and subsequent ear challenge assay, was enhanced by clindamycin administration. The optimal augmentation effect of clindamycin required its simultaneous administration at the time of DNFB skin sensitization.

Synergistic Anti-candidal Activity of Tetrandrine on Ketoconazole: an Experimental Study

Planta Medica, 2009
With the widespread use of azoles, drug resistant Candida albicans strains are increasing. The study examined the synergism of tetrandrine (TET) on ketoconazole (KCZ) candidacidal activity. The protocol M27-A2 of the Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI) was adopted and the minimum inhibitory concentrations (MICs) were determined for KCZ ...

Influence of in vitro susceptibility testing conditions on the anti-candidal activity of LY121019

Diagnostic Microbiology and Infectious Disease, 1988
LY121019 is a new antifungal antimicrobic that is structurally similar to the lipopeptide agents echinocandin B and aculeacin A. Because of the importance of in vitro test conditions on the activity of other antifungal agents, we studied the effects of inoculum size, time and temperature of incubation, pH, and medium composition on the in vitro ...

The anti-candidal activity of Satureja khuzistanica ethanol extract against clinical isolates of C. albicans

Journal de Mycologie Médicale, 2016
Candida albicans is the common cause of some infectious diseases such as vaginal candidiasis or candidemia. Due to the emergence of drug resistant isolates of C. albicans, finding a new anti-Candida agent is a new strategy for current treatments. This study evaluated the anti-candidal activity of Satureja khuzistanica ethanol extract against clinical ...

Synthesis and anti-Candidal activity of N-(4-aryl/cyclohexyl)-2-(pyridine-4-yl carbonyl) hydrazinecarbothioamide

Bioorganic & Medicinal Chemistry Letters, 2014
Eighteen N-(4-aryl/cyclohexyl)-2-(pyridine-4-yl carbonyl) hydrazinecarbothioamide derivatives were synthesized, evaluated against ten clinical isolates of Candida spp. and compared with itraconazole. Introduction of p-chloro (2c), p-iodo (2q), m-chloro (2l) and o-nitro (2r) substitution at phenyl ring of thiosemicarbazide enhanced the anti-Candida ...
