Long‐term stability of human parvovirus B19 neutralizing antibody titer trends in donor‐derived pooled plasma and plasma‐derived immunoglobulin product lots in Japan

open access: yesTransfusion, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Human parvovirus B19 (B19) is a major pathogen involved in transfusion‐related infections. In Japan, B19 antigen screening is conducted during blood donation, and B19 deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) levels in pooled plasma have remained below the limit recommended by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (104 IU/mL).

Impact of nationwide parvovirus B19 DNA screening and identification of transfusion‐transmitted infections

open access: yesVox Sanguinis, EarlyView.
Abstract Background and Objectives Parvovirus B19 (B19V) testing is often not required to release blood components. However, the European Pharmacopoeia requires that plasma pools for fractionation contain no more than 104 IU/mL of B19V DNA. In France, pool B19 nucleic acid testing (NAT) screening was performed by Établissement Français du Sang since ...

mTOR blockade prevents progressive proteinuria but induces hyperglycaemia in obese Dahl salt‐sensitive rats before puberty

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract Previous studies have demonstrated that mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) activity is significantly increased in the kidneys of Dahl salt‐sensitive (SS) rats during the development of renal injury. Therefore, in the present study we examined whether blockade of mTOR with rapamycin inhibits renal injury in Dahl salt‐sensitive leptin receptor

Mechanistic insights into sex differences in atrial electrophysiology and arrhythmia vulnerability through sex‐specific computational models

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract figure legend Sex‐specific models of the human atrial myocyte in normal sinus rhythm (nSR) and chronic atrial fibrillation (cAF) revealed increased alternans susceptibility in cAF males and DADs in females, driven primarily by ICaL and ryanodine receptor remodelling.
