Reconfigurable Magnetic Soft Microrobot for Acoustically Triggered Targeted Bacterial Sterilization

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Reconfigurable magnetic soft microrobots integrate in situ‐grown piezoelectric zinc oxide nanorods that produce reactive oxygen species upon acoustic excitation. Combining magnetically guided transport with thermally induced planar reconfiguration, the microrobots achieve targeted delivery and enhanced bacterial sterilization through efficient on ...

Local dynamical lattice instabilities: Prerequisites for resonant pairing superconductivity

open access: yes, 2008
Fluctuating local diamagnetic pairs of electrons, embedded in a Fermi sea, are candidates for non-phonon-mediated superconductors without the stringent conditions on Tc which arise in phonon-mediated BCS classical low-Tc superconductors.

Three‐dimensional Antimony Sulfide Based Flat Optics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work presents the development of a grayscale electron beam lithography (g‐EBL) method for fabricating antimony trisulfide (Sb2S3) nanostructures with customizable 3D profiles. The refractive index of g‐EBL patterned Sb2S3 is determined based on the synergy of genetic algorithm and transfer matrix method.

Dual-hollow-core anti-resonant fiber with silicon layers and nested resonant tubes for constructing a single-polarization 3 dB coupler

open access: yesOptics Express
A novel dual-hollow-core anti-resonant fiber (DHC-ARF) with silicon layers and nested resonant tubes is proposed for constructing a 3 dB single-polarization coupler. High-index silicon layers are deposited inside four cladding tubes along the x-direction and then nested resonant tubes are introduced into these cladding tubes, which is beneficial to ...

Transparent photonic band in metallodielectric nanostructures

open access: yes, 2005
Under certain conditions, a transparent photonic band can be designed into a one-dimensional metallodielectric nanofilm structure. Unlike conventional pass bands in photonic crystals, where the finite thickness of the structure affects the transmission ...

Tuning the Electronic Structure and Spin State of Fe─N─C Catalysts Using an Axial Oxygen Ligand and Fe Clusters for High‐Efficiency Rechargeable Zinc–Air Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A FeN4─O/Clu@NC‐0.1Ac catalyst containing atomically‐dispersed FeN4─O sites (medium‐spin Fe2+) and Fe clusters delivered a half‐wave potential of 0.89 V for ORR and an overpotential of 330 mV at 10 mA cm−2 for OER in 0.1 m KOH. When the catalyst was used in a rechargeable Zn–air battery, a power density of 284.5 mW cm−2 was achieved with excellent ...

Spectrally Tunable 2D Material‐Based Infrared Photodetectors for Intelligent Optoelectronics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Intelligent optoelectronics through spectral engineering of 2D material‐based infrared photodetectors. Abstract The evolution of intelligent optoelectronic systems is driven by artificial intelligence (AI). However, their practical realization hinges on the ability to dynamically capture and process optical signals across a broad infrared (IR) spectrum.

Highly Birefringent Low Loss NestedHollow Core Anti-resonant Fiber With A Silicon Layer

open access: yes
Abstract In this paper, a single ring hollow-core anti-resonant fiber (HC-ARF) with five elliptical nested tubes and a silicon layer is presented and investigated. The geometrically optimized HC-ARF, proposed here, exhibits highest birefringence of 2.95×10− 4 at 1550 nm by maintaining a birefringence level of > 10− 4 for a bandwidth of 58 nm.

High-speed shear driven dynamos. Part 1. Asymptotic analysis

open access: yes, 2019
Rational large Reynolds number matched asymptotic expansions of three-dimensional nonlinear magneto-hydrodynamic (MHD) states are concerned. The nonlinear MHD states, assumed to be predominantly driven by a unidirectional shear, can be sustained without ...
