Antibody Response in Rubella Reinfection
Scandinavian Journal of Infectious Diseases, 1972AbstractSera were collected from 292 army recruits before and after a rubella outbreak in winter 1971. Of the 37 initially susceptible men, 34 (92%) had serologic evidence of rubella infection, but only 6 (16%) had a rash. A 4-fold or greater booster response in rubella hemagglutination-inhibiting (HI) antibodies was found in 15 (5.9%) of the initially

Natural Antibodies and the Immune Response
1966Publisher Summary This chapter reviews the subject of natural antibodies by analyzing the experimental data that demonstrate their existence and characteristics in both invertebrates and vertebrates. Their actions are related to those of other serum constituents that also participate in the serological recognition of foreign substances.

Lymphocyte Interactions in Antibody Responses
1972Publisher Summary The immune response of an organism to a foreign stimulus consists of a series of events initiated by the interaction of an “immunocompetent” cell and antigen. There are two broad classes of immune responses: (1) “humoral immunity,” in which antibodies, characterized as immunoglobulin molecules, are synthesized, generally by plasma ...

Antibody Response to Viral Antigens
1973Publisher Summary This chapter focuses on humoral antibody response. It describes the general nature of viral antigens, what is being determined by seriological procedures applied to virus systems, the appraisal of such data for diagnostic and vaccine evaluation purposes, and the nature of the antibody response and some potential implications to ...
