Immunotherapeutic Potential of Mollusk Hemocyanins in Murine Model of Melanoma

open access: yesMarine Drugs
The development of antitumor drugs and therapy requires new approaches and molecules, and products of natural origin provide intriguing alternatives for antitumor research. Gastropodan hemocyanins-multimeric copper-containing glycoproteins have been used

Synergistic inhibition of the Hedgehog pathway by newly designed Smo and Gli antagonists bearing the isoflavone scaffold [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Aberrant activation of the Hedgehog (Hh) pathway is responsible for the onset and progression of several malignancies. Small molecules able to block the pathway at the upstream receptor Smoothened (Smo) or the downstream effector Gli1 have thus emerged ...

NANOMEDICINE IN ANTICANCER THERAPY

open access: yesBulletin of the National Technical University "KhPI". Series: Chemistry, Chemical Technology and Ecology, 2022
The use of liposomal nanoparticles as a drug delivery system today is a promising area of modern nanopharmacology, in particular in the development of antitumor drugs. Liposomal forms of antitumor active pharmaceutical ingredients are characterized by reduced toxicity, stability, and increased antitumor activity of nanoparticle-encapsulated antitumor ...

LINC01116, a hypoxia‐lncRNA marker of pathological lymphangiogenesis and poor prognosis in lung adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The LINC01116 long noncoding RNA is induced by hypoxia and associated with poor prognosis and high recurrence rates in two cohorts of lung adenocarcinoma patients. Here, we demonstrate that besides its expression in cancer cells, LINC01116 is markedly expressed in lymphatic endothelial cells of the tumor stroma in which it participates in hypoxia ...

Macrophages as a “weapon” in anticancer cellular immunotherapy

open access: yesKaohsiung Journal of Medical Sciences, 2021
Anticancer immunotherapy is a treatment that activates the immune system to fight the tumor. Immunotherapy has several advantages over other cancer treatments in that anticancer immunotherapy displays high specificity, low side effects, and can combine ...

ATF4‐mediated stress response as a therapeutic vulnerability in chordoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We screened 5 chordoma cell lines against 100+ inhibitors of epigenetic and metabolic pathways and kinases and identified halofuginone, a tRNA synthetase inhibitor. Mechanistically halofuginone induces an integrated stress response, with eIF2alpha phosphorylation, activation of ATF4 and its target genes CHOP, ASNS, INHBE leading to cell death ...

Cell surface interactome analysis identifies TSPAN4 as a negative regulator of PD‐L1 in melanoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Using cell surface proximity biotinylation, we identified tetraspanin TSPAN4 within the PD‐L1 interactome of melanoma cells. TSPAN4 negatively regulates PD‐L1 expression and lateral mobility by limiting its interaction with CMTM6 and promoting PD‐L1 degradation.

Frondoside A suppressive effects on lung cancer survival, tumor growth, angiogenesis, invasion, and metastasis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
A major challenge for oncologists and pharmacologists is to develop less toxic drugs that will improve the survival of lung cancer patients. Frondoside A is a triterpenoid glycoside isolated from the sea cucumber, Cucumaria frondosa and was shown to be a
