SUFU white paper on overactive bladder anticholinergic medications and dementia risk
Neurourology and Urodynamics, 2022Anticholinergic medications are widely used in the treatment of overactive bladder (OAB), as well as for short‐term treatment of bladder symptoms following a variety of urologic surgeries.

A case of anticholinergic psychossis in a 17-year-old male following suspected ingestion of an unknown amount of benztropine mesylate is discussed. The borderline mentally retarded patient exhibited acute psychosis and physical signs common to anticholinergic and amphetamine intoxications such as mydriasis, tachycardia and hypertension.
