Paraquat Poisoning: A Case of Daisley–Barton Syndrome and Hepatorenal Failure
ABSTRACT Paraquat (PQ) is a highly toxic herbicide that causes severe poisoning. It mainly affects the lungs, liver, and kidneys. When ingested intentionally, it has a high mortality rate due to the absence of an effective antidote. We present a rare case of a 35‐year‐old female with deliberate ingestion of paraquat for a suicide attempt.

Alpinia galanga rhizome extract (GRE) was analyzed in vitro to identify its bioactive compounds, tested in vivo in a Wistar rat model of noise‐induced cardiotoxicity, and validated in silico by molecular docking. The combined results highlight the cardioprotective potential of GRE.

Abstract Background Prolonged fasting before surgery remains common despite guidelines recommending liquid fasting for 2 h and solid fasting for 6 h preoperatively. Consuming carbohydrate‐rich drinks until 2 h before surgery improves patient well‐being and reduces postoperative complications and insulin resistance.
