The Bennett‐ Goodspeed Antigen or Antigens

Vox Sanguinis, 1963
SummaryMany sera used in blood grouping contain a second antibody. Not infrequently this belongs to what appears to be a family of antibodies called variously anti‐Donna, anti‐Sturgeon, anti‐Ho, anti‐Bennett‐Goodspeed, anti‐Price, etc. The reactions with the sera are not always reproducible. The antigen was found in 7 out of 158 unrelated parents. In 5

Tumor‐associated antigens: Tn antigen, sTn antigen, and T antigen

HLA, 2016
AbstractGlycosylation is one of the major posttranslational modifications of proteins. N‐glycosylation (Asn‐linked) and O‐glycosylation (Ser/Thr‐linked) are the two main forms. Abnormal O‐glycosylation is frequently observed on the surface of tumor cells, and is associated with an adverse outcome and poor prognosis in patients with cancer.

The Haakestad Antigen Is Identical with the Hov Antigen

Vox Sanguinis, 1987
Abstract. The rare blood group antigen previously referred to as the ‘Haakestad antigen’ is shown to be identical with the Hov antigen (numerical designation: 700.038). Family studies add ABO and HLA to the systems already known to segregate independently from Hov. Among 2,021 Danish blood donors, 4 Hov+ persons were found.

Nature of the antigenic determinants of T locus antigens

Cell, 1980
The nature of the antigenic specificities of several antigens associated with the T/t complex in the mouse were analyzed by means of glycosidase and haptene inhibition studies. Results indicate that on testicular cells sugar residues are involved in at least six different T/t antigenic determinants.

The antigenicity of carcinoembryonic antigen in man

International Journal of Cancer, 1975
AbstractBinding of globulins to 125I CEA was detected in 10 of 24 sera from patients with cancer, 13 of 26 sera from blood donors, and 7 of 27 supernates of tumor‐cell suspensions. Binding was predominantly by IgM in 10 of 14 sera tested by radioimmunoelectrophoresis.

Antigen presentation, antigen-presenting cells and antigen processing

Current Opinion in Immunology, 1988
To summarize, during the period under review there have been considerable advances in our understanding of how antigen is associated with MHC on the surface of a presenting cell. Basic rules which govern this association have been confirmed as including both the nature and the configuration of the antigen.

ON THE ANTIGENICITY OF INSULIN

Canadian Journal of Biochemistry and Physiology, 1957
On the basis of body weight, mice showed a higher percentage survival to large doses of insulin than did rabbits and these in turn were more resistant to insulin than guinea pigs. Antibodies to insulin were induced in five species of animals. Anti-insulins produced by the guinea pig, rabbit, sheep, and horse can each neutralize insulin extracted from ...

How antigenic are antigenic peptides?

Biopolymers, 1983
AbstractMost of a protein surface is potentially antigenic, consisting of numerous overlapping domains each complementary to antibody‐combining sites. These domains may include peptide sequences that are demonstrably antigenic but only when antibodies from the appropriate host individuals and species are used.
