Legal framework of antimicrobial stewardship in hospitals (LEASH) : a European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (ESCMID) cross-sectional international survey [PDF]
Antimicrobial stewardship (AMS) is the cornerstone activity in the combat against antimicrobial resistance. In order to ensure sustainable deployment and development of AMS, a strategic and regulatory framework needs to be provided by national healthcare

A Degradable and Antimicrobial Surface‐Attached Polymer Hydrogel
AbstractSurface‐attached, degradable polymer hydrogels with potential antimicrobial activity are reported. They are obtained by ring‐opening metathesis copolymerization (ROMP) of a monomer with potential bioactivity and a monomer that carries a benzophenone cross‐linker and a hydrolyzable group. The hydrolyzable group is either an ester or an anhydride

Antimicrobial activity of surface attached marine bacteria in biofilms
Relatively little is known about the microbial ecology of biofilm communities or the diversity of antimicrobial molecules that they produce to regulate these communities. This study tested whether the production of antimicrobial activity in biofilm cultures is enhanced towards competing bacteria found in those biofilms.

Probing protein sequences as sources for encrypted antimicrobial peptides [PDF]
Starting from the premise that a wealth of potentially biologically active peptides may lurk within proteins, we describe here a methodology to identify putative antimicrobial peptides encrypted in protein sequences.

Antibiotic resistance is a great public health challenge of our time. In this work, we have synthesized silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs) using pulsed liquid ablation in different medium of growth and later combined with methylene blue (MB) to evaluate its potential as an effective photodynamic therapy agent.

Targeting antimicrobial drug resistance with marine natural products
The rise and spread of antimicrobial resistance represents one of the most pressing health issues of today. Antimicrobial resistance in micro-organisms can arise due to a multiplicity of factors, including perme- ability changes in the cell membrane ...
