Importance of Residency Training for the Provision of Comprehensive Clinical Pharmacy Services

open access: yesJACCP: JOURNAL OF THE AMERICAN COLLEGE OF CLINICAL PHARMACY, Volume 9, Issue 6, June 2026.
ABSTRACT In 2006, the American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP) issued a position statement recommending residency training as a prerequisite for entering direct patient care activities. Additional recommendations in 2013 added residency training as a prerequisite for providing direct patient care.

Research and Scholarly Methods: Using Theory, Models, and Frameworks to Guide Study Design

open access: yesJACCP: JOURNAL OF THE AMERICAN COLLEGE OF CLINICAL PHARMACY, Volume 9, Issue 6, June 2026.
ABSTRACT A research project should include the use of a well‐chosen theory, model, or framework. However, this is often missing in published research. The critical importance of incorporating theory, models, and frameworks into pharmacy practice research to enhance the rigor, relevance, and generalizability of study findings is highlighted in this ...

Understanding Responsible Antimicrobial Practices and Antimicrobial Resistance: A Cross‐Sectional Study of Farmers in Rangpur, Bangladesh

open access: yesMicrobiologyOpen, Volume 15, Issue 3, June 2026.
Surveying 537 farmers in Bangladesh revealed widespread high‐risk antibiotic use, including misuse of critically important antimicrobials and treatment of non‐bacterial diseases. The findings highlight a major knowledge‐practice gap and emphasize the need for improved diagnostics, stronger regulation, and a One Health‐based antimicrobial stewardship ...

When First‐Line Therapies Fail: Surgical Site Infections and the Declining Antimicrobial Utility in a Resource‐Limited Nation

open access: yesMicrobiologyOpen, Volume 15, Issue 3, June 2026.
In Belize, a 7‐year nationwide study reveals a sharp rise in antimicrobial resistance in surgical infections. ESBL‐producing bacteria more than doubled to > 45%, with critical treatment gaps and geographic hotspots identified. Sentinel pan‐drug‐resistant cases and a correlation between antibiotic use and resistance underscore the urgent need for ...

Susceptibility‐Guided Versus Empirical Therapy for Helicobacter pylori Infection in a High Resistance Setting: A Randomised Controlled Trial

open access: yesMicrobiologyOpen, Volume 15, Issue 3, June 2026.
In a randomised trial conducted in a high‐resistance region, PCR‐based susceptibility‐guided therapy showed no superiority over empirical therapy for Helicobacter pylori eradication. Empirical clarithromycin‐containing quadruple therapy remained effective despite high clarithromycin resistance.

Nanoparticle‐Based Strategies to Combat Multidrug‐Resistant Bacteria: Mechanisms, Applications, and Future Perspectives

open access: yesMicrobiologyOpen, Volume 15, Issue 3, June 2026.
Nanobiotics offer a promising strategy to combat antimicrobial resistance (AMR) and multidrug‐resistant (MDR) bacteria. Nanoparticles overcome traditional resistance mechanisms through unique physicochemical properties and multivalent interactions.
