Oxidative stress in Duchenne muscular dystrophy: focus on the NRF2 redox pathway [PDF]
Oxidative stress is involved in the pathogenesis of Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD), an X-linked genetic disorder caused by mutations in the dystrophin gene and characterized by progressive, lethal muscle degeneration and chronic inflammation.

Mechanism of Action of Biological Antioxidants
More and more diseases have been proposed to have a radical or oxidant involvement. Although in most cases we do not know if this involvement is a cause or a result of the disease process, it is still valuable to learn about those compounds or enzymes that might block, inhibit, or prevent radical-initiated reactions.

In a murine model of myocardial ischemia and reperfusion (MI/R), the CD36 azapeptide ligand MPE‐298 reduces cardiac injury and transiently lowers left ventricular long‐chain fatty acids (LCFAs) accumulation 3 h after reperfusion, accompanied by a decrease of oxidative stress and inflammation‐associated genes' expression in the heart and adipose tissue.

Details of the antioxidant mechanism of hydroxycinnamic acids
Antioxidant activities and free radical-mediated DNA strand breakages of five hydroxycinnamic acids were examined. Kinetic analysis of a stable galvinoxy (GO*)-scavenging reaction of hydroxycinnamic acids demonstrated that the molecular structure and the

Molecular biomarkers and toxic consequences of impact by organic pollution in aquatic organisms [PDF]
Organic contaminants are readily bioaccumulated by aquatic organisms. Exposure to and toxic effects of contaminants can be measured in terms of the biochemical responses of the organisms (i.e. molecular biomarkers).

Carotenoids and antioxidant enzymes as biomarkers of the impact of heavy metals in food chain [PDF]
Antioxidant enzymes (catalase and peroxidase) and carotenoids (lutein and â-carotene) are often used as biomarkers of metal contamination of water and agricultural soils.
