Jugular Versus Femoral Venous Access for Leadless Pacemaker Implantation: A Systematic Review and Meta‐Analysis

open access: yesPacing and Clinical Electrophysiology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Leadless pacemakers (LPMs) have been shown to reduce complications compared with conventional transvenous pacing. Transfemoral venous access (FA) is the standard implantation approach; however, the transjugular approach (JA) has recently emerged as an alternative strategy, but comparative evidence remains limited.

Maternal–fetal platelet alloimmunization: Identification of risk factors for severe neonatal thrombocytopenia

open access: yesTransfusion, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Feto‐maternal platelet alloimmunization (FNAIT) is a rare condition (1 in 1500 live pregnancies), most commonly diagnosed based on clinical neonatal hemorrhagic manifestations, which can vary in severity. The aim of our study was to identify risk factors for severe fetal/neonatal thrombocytopenia in cases of FNAIT.

Carotid artery dissection linked to intermittent apnoeic swimming: A case–control study

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract Internal carotid artery (ICA) dissection is a rare and potentially devastating cause of cerebral ischaemia, initiated by an intimal tear or rupture of the vasa vasorum, that can lead to an intraluminal thrombus, vascular stenosis, occlusion, or dissecting aneurysm formation.

The Immuno‐Cardiovascular Storm of Pre‐Eclampsia: Cytokine‐Mediated Endothelial Injury, Thrombosis, and Maternal Cardiovascular Instability

open access: yesComprehensive Physiology, Volume 16, Issue 4, August 2026.
Placental ischemia in pre‐eclampsia initiates cytokine‐driven endothelial dysfunction, angiogenic imbalance, oxidative stress, and thromboinflammation. Elevated TNF‐α, IL‐6, IL‐17, sFlt‐1, and complement activation promote vasoconstriction, thrombosis, and cardiovascular instability.
