The New Experimental Storage Ring (NESR) of the Facility for Antiproton and Ion Research is designed for versatile operation with ions and antiprotons. Both stable ions and rare isotope beams will be used for internal experiments.

Antiprotonic Helium Atoms [PDF]
Metastable antiprotonic helium atoms $^{3,4}\! H\! e\bar pe$ have been discovered recently in experiments of the delayed annihilation of antiprotons in helium media. These exotic atoms survive for an enormous time (about tens of microseconds) and carry the extremely large total angular momentum $L\sim 30-40$.
