Compression of Antiproton Clouds for Antihydrogen Trapping

open access: yes, 2008
Control of the radial profile of trapped antiproton clouds is critical to trapping antihydrogen. We report the first detailed measurements of the radial manipulation of antiproton clouds, including areal density compressions by factors as large as ten ...

Heavy Quarkonium States With Baryonic Chemical Potential

open access: yesAdvances in High Energy Physics, Volume 2025, Issue 1, 2025.
In this work, we have studied the dissociation behavior of 1S and 2S states of quarkonium using quasiparticle approach where the Debye mass depends on baryonic chemical potential. The binding energies of the quarkonium states has been obtained by using quasiparticle Debye mass which further depends on temperature and baryonic chemical potential (μb ...

On the Square Speed of Sound in High‐Energy Collisions: Range of Values and How to Understand It

open access: yesAdvances in High Energy Physics, Volume 2025, Issue 1, 2025.
After reviewing the sound speeds in various forms and conditions of matter, we investigate the sound speed of hadronic matter that has decoupled from the hot and dense system formed during high‐energy collisions. We comprehensively consider factors such as energy loss of the incident beam, rapidity shift of leading nucleons, and the Landau hydrodynamic

Antiproton Annihilations in Propane [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review, 1961
An experiment to study the $\overline{p}$ annihilation process at 1.05 Bev/c was performed with the Lawrence Radiation Laboratory 30-in. propane bubble chamber. It was observed that the $K$-meson production in annihilation events rises sharply with the increase in energy, namely from 4\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}1% for annihilations at or near "rest ...

Quarks unter Hochdruck im Proton

open access: yesPhysik in unserer Zeit, Volume 55, Issue 6, Page 298-306, November 2024.

CERN ELENA project progress report

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2015
The Extra Low Energy Antiproton ring (ELENA) is a CERN project aiming at constructing a 30 m circumference synchrotron to further decelerate antiprotons from the Antiproton Decelerator (AD) from 5.3 MeV to 100 keV.

Formation of antihydrogen beams from positron–antiproton interactions

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2019
The formation of a beam of antihydrogen atoms when antiprotons pass through cold, dense positron plasmas is simulated for various plasma properties and antiproton injection energies.

Cylindrically Symmetric Diffusion Model for Relativistic Heavy‐Ion Collisions

open access: yesAnnalen der Physik, Volume 536, Issue 5, May 2024.
To account for particle production in relativistic heavy‐ion collisions at the Large Hadron Collider, a relativistic diffusion model with cylindrical symmetry is derived from nonequilibrium–statistical considerations. It propagates an initial state based on quantum chromodynamics in time toward a thermal equilibrium limit.

On the possibility of extracting part of a beam of negatively charged particles from an accelerator using a bent crystal

open access: yesEuropean Physical Journal C: Particles and Fields, 2023
The efficiency of deflection of high-energy negatively charged particles by a bent crystal using planar channeling and stochastic deflection mechanism is compared.

Precision spectroscopy of antiprotonic helium [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Antiprotonic helium, a neutral exotic three-body system consisting of a helium nucleus, an electron and an antiproton, is being studied at the Antiproton Decelerator of CERN by the ASAUCSA collaboration.
