Synthesis and antiprotozoal activity of 4-arylcoumarins
European Journal of Medicinal Chemistry, 2010A large series of 4-arylcoumarins was synthesized by Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling reaction and evaluated for antiprotozoal activity against Plasmodium falciparum and Leishmania donovani. Several compounds were found to strongly inhibit the proliferation of human cell line and/or parasites.

Antiprotozoal activity of ferroquine
Parasitology Research, 2012Ferroquine (FQ, SSR97193) is a synthetic compound currently in development for the treatment of malaria. The use of a single compound to treat several parasitoses would be very convenient for multi-infected patients and also for financial considerations.

Antiprotozoal activity in citrinin
Bulletin of Environmental Contamination and Toxicology, 1976Citrinin has an inhibitory effect on growth of T. pyriformis. Citrinin also caused a shift to smaller cell size, particularly at the higher concentrations (25, 50 and 100 mug/ml). The mycotoxin exerted only a marginal effect on the respiration of T. pyriformis; but citrinin (25 mug/ml) induced an inhibitory effect on DNA, RNA and protein content.

Antiprotozoal activities of phospholipid analogues
Molecular and Biochemical Parasitology, 2003The antiprotozoal activity of phospholipid analogues, originally developed as anti-cancer drugs, has been determined in the past decade. The most susceptible parasites are Leishmania spp. and Trypanosoma cruzi with activity also shown against Trypanosoma brucei spp., Entamoeba histolytica and Acanthamoeba spp.

Antiprotozoal activity of Senna racemosa
Journal of Ethnopharmacology, 2007Methanol extracts of leaves, roots and bark of Senna racemosa (Mill.) H.S. Irwin & Barneby (syn. Cassia racemosa Mill.) were tested for antiprotozooal activity against Giardia intestinalis and Entamoeba histolytica. All of the tested extracts showed good activity against both protozoa species.

Antiprotozoal activity of Neurolaena lobata
Phytotherapy Research, 2001AbstractExtracts, fractions and sesquiterpene lactones from Neurolaena lobata (L.) R. Br. (Asteraceae), a traditional medicinal plant from Guatemala, were tested in vitro against Leishmania spp. promastigotes, Trypanosoma cruzi trypomastigotes and epimastigotes and Trichomonas vaginalis trophozoites. The ethanol extract inhibited the parasite growth of
