Electric Silver Antisepsis

IEEE Transactions on Biomedical Engineering, 1985
Use of silver as a topical antimicrobial agent has been hampered by the absence of a method of providing sustained delivery of the silver ions. One possible solution is the use of silver-coated fabrics as both wound dressings and silver-ion emitting anodes in a simple electric circuit.

Evaluation of Hand Antisepsis

Archives of Environmental Health: An International Journal, 1969
Klebsiella-Aerobacter was isolated from a 3% hexachlorophene surgical soap. The effectiveness of two surgical scrub products: hexachlorophene (Dermasurgical and pHisoHex), and povidoneiodine (Betadine) was tested in a surgical scrub procedure and compared with an anticrosscontaminant foam (Intersept).

INTESTINAL ANTISEPSIS IN SURGERY

JAMA: The Journal of the American Medical Association, 1953
The modern concepts of intestinal antisepsis have developed during the past 12 years. Initially, certain sulfonamides, which were poorly absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract, were found to act locally to alter the bacterial flora. These compounds had relatively narrow antimicrobial spectrums, had little effect against the gram-positive organisms ...
