Biointerface Membranes Orchestrating Site‐Specific Osteoimmunomodulatory and Antibacterial Effects for Enhanced Osseous Regeneration in Periodontal Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Here, a biointerface membrane engineered with site‐specific interfacial properties is developed. During implantation between gingival and bone defect, the membrane creates a pro‐osteogenic microenvironment, precisely modulates cellular activities at each biointerface, and facilitates the orchestration of complex healing events, ultimately leading to ...

URINARY ANTISEPSIS [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the American Medical Association, 1918
The ideal internal urinary antiseptic must be a drug which is chemically stable, nontoxic, and nonirritating to the lower urinary tract; which is antiseptic in high dilution (in urine, as well as in water), and which is eliminated unchanged in high percentage by the kidney. There is no such drug known.

In vitro Effects of Two Silver Electrodes on Select Wound Pathogens [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
The use of electrical current to promote wound healing is well documented. However, little is understood about the effects of micro-amperage direct current (μADC) on growth of wound pathogens.

Photo‐Controlled Antibacterial Drug Release From DASA‐Coated Silica Particles for Improved Treatment of Wound Infections

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Synthesis and characterization of light‐responsive donor–acceptor Stenhouse adducts (DASA)‐coated chlorhexidine‐loaded silica nanoparticles. Such a controllable drug‐delivery system enables the release of the antimicrobial drug on demand and in consecutive cycles, thereby maintaining the concentration within the therapeutic window.

Coagulative Granular Hydrogels with an Enzyme Catalyzed Fibrin Network for Endogenous Tissue Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Coagulative granular hydrogels are composed of packed thrombin‐functionalized microgels that catalyze the conversion of fibrinogen into a secondary fibrin network, filling the interstitial voids. This bio‐inspired approach stabilizes the biomaterial to match the robustness of bulk hydrogels without compromising injectability, mimicking the initial ...

Oxygen and ROS Delivery for Infected Wound Healing and Future Prospects

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Bacterial infection is a major driver of delayed wound healing and postsurgical readmissions; with rising antibiotic resistance, solid peroxide–releasing biomaterials offer sustained delivery of ROS/O2 for antimicrobial control and microenvironmental modulation.
