Antiviral Activity of Lactoferrin

1998
In 1976, Matthews et al.19 reported the antiviral activity of milk proteins, underlining their possible clinical importance. Only recently, this effect has been ascribed mainly to lactoferrin (Lf). Lf was initially shown to exert a protective influence in mice infected with Friend leukemia virus15.

Antiviral Update

Ophthalmology, 1979
There are two antiviral agents that are commercially available for use in ocular herpes infections, idoxuridine, and vidarabine (Ara-A).
