Granulosa cell-derived miR-379-5p regulates macrophage polarization in polycystic ovarian syndrome

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2023
Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) is associated with hyperandrogenemia and ovarian antral follicle growth arrest. We have previously demonstrated that androgen-induced exosomal release of miR-379-5p (miR379) from preantral follicle granulosa cells ...

Capillary angiogenesis and degeneration in bovine ovarian antral follicles [PDF]

open access: yesReproduction, 2003
Angiogenesis and capillary degeneration are both evident during ovarian follicle growth. However, the characteristics and distribution of thecal capillary proliferative and degenerative structures have not been fully defined. Indeed, the role of thecal microvasculature changes in follicular atresia is still a matter of debate.

Oocyte-granulosa-theca cell interactions during preantral follicular development

open access: yesJournal of Ovarian Research, 2009
The preantral-early antral follicle transition is the penultimate stage of follicular development in terms of gonadotropin dependence and follicle destiny (growth versus atresia).

Predictors of antral follicle count during the reproductive years [PDF]

open access: yesHuman Reproduction, 2005
We sought to identify indicators of antral follicle count which would be serviceable to clinicians seeking to estimate the number of ovarian follicles without relying on sonographic counts. We examined the relations of chronological age and four potential indicators of ovarian age-ovarian volume, FSH, dimeric inhibin B and estradiol-to antral follicle ...

Comparative Biometrical and Follicular Study in Pig Ovary

open access: yesScientific Papers Animal Science and Biotechnologies, 2023
Porcine ovaries are a biological material frequently used in studies that analyze follicular development processes, oocyte maturation in close connection with the stages of the estrus cycle. Ovarian follicles and their degree of development represent the

Anti-mullerian hormone and antral follicle count in polycystic ovary syndrome and non-polycystic ovary syndrome women

open access: yesZanco Journal of Medical Sciences, 2019
Background and objective: Although the ultimate pathogenesis of polycystic ovary syndrome remains obscure, the distinctive feature is the failure of follicular maturation resulting in an ovulation and accumulation of preantral and small antral follicles ...

Antral Follicles Count and Anti-Müllerian Hormone Levels after Gonadotoxic Chemotherapy in Patients with Breast Cancer: Cohort Study [PDF]

open access: yesRevista Brasileira de Ginecologia e Obstetrícia, 2017
Aim To assess ovarian reserve (OVR) by means of follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH), and antral follicle count (AFC) measurement in eumenorrheic women with breast cancer, exposed to gonadotoxic chemotherapy. Method Fifty-two

USP9X as a Candidate Mediator of Prenatal Aspirin‐Induced Ovarian Reserve Reduction in Offspring Mice

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study suggests that prenatal aspirin exposure is associated with reduced ovarian reserve in offspring, associated with HDAC1‐linked epigenetic downregulation of Usp9x as a candidate mechanism. These preclinical findings provide new insights into fetal‐origin ovarian disorders and contribute to the evidence base concerning aspirin's gestational ...

A Biomarker‐Driven Ovary–Endometrium Organ‐on‐a‐Chip Mimicking 3D Multicellular Complexity and Menstrual Cyclicity for Predicting Reproductive Toxicity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We present a dual‐organ, biomarker‐integrated ovaryendometrium organ‐on‐a‐chip that recapitulates 3D tissue complexity, menstrual cycle dynamics, and hormonal crosstalk. This platform enables real‐time, cell‐typespecific fluorescent readouts of reproductive toxicity using ANGPTL4 and SERPINB2 as early‐response reporters.

IGF‐1 Deficiency Serves as an Integrated Biomarker Pathogenic Driver and Predictor in Poor Ovarian Response

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
IGF‐1 deficiency underlies poor ovarian response (POR), as reduced levels in follicular fluid and granulosa cells impair antral follicle formation and compromise reproductive outcomes. Including IGF‐1 as a biomarker significantly enhances the accuracy of models predicting both PORrisk and pregnancy success.
