Lack of Population Structure of an Extreme Migratory Shorebird: Evidence of Gene Flow Between Geographically Disparate Populations. [PDF]

open access: yesEcol Evol
Gene flow is key to understand the population connectivity of a given species, specially when small and segregated populations threaten its conservation. In this study we explored the population structure of the Hudsonian Godwit (Limosa haemastica), a long‐distance migratory shorebird.

Anurans or Mice: What is the Best Food Item for Young and Adults of Bothrops jararacussu (Lacerda, 1884) in Captivity? [PDF]

open access: yesZoo Biol
We use Bothrops jararacussu as a model to introduce three different prey items (mice, exotic anuran – bullfrog and native anurans) in captivity. Our experiments indicated that native anurans could be an interesting food alternative to B. jararacussu and other Bothrops species with an ontogenetic diet in captivity.

Potential distribution of endemic lizards from Brazilian restingas: The present announcing the end. [PDF]

open access: yesEcol Evol
We evaluated the current and future potential distribution of the endemic lizards from Brazilian restingas and hypothesize that the ENMs will indicate alterations in the potential distribution of the restinga‐endemic lizards. Our models are robust enough to explain the suitable climatic zones for the occurrence of the studied species.

Noninvasive Methods Unveil the Trophic Transmission of the Tapeworm Ligula intestinalis in Gull-Billed Terns. [PDF]

open access: yesEcol Evol
Using both copromicroscopic (Mini‐FLOTAC) and molecular (qPCR) techniques, we detected and quantified the macroparasite Ligula intestinalis in Gull‐billed Terns for the first time. Phylogenetic analyses revealed genetic similarities among parasite isolates from birds (definitive hosts) and fish prey (intermediate hosts), suggesting local infection from

Effects of an Extreme Weather Event on Primate Populations. [PDF]

open access: yesAm J Biol Anthropol
ABSTRACT Objectives With contemporary, human‐induced climate change at a crisis point, extreme weather events (e.g., cyclones, heatwaves, floods) are becoming more frequent, intense, and difficult to predict. These events can wreak rapid and significant changes on ecosystems; thus, it is imperative to understand how wildlife communities respond to ...

Interspecies conflict, precarious reasoning, and the gull problem in the Gulf of Maine. [PDF]

open access: yesConserv Biol
Abstract Contemporary conservation science requires mediating conflicts among nonhuman species, but the grounds for favoring one species over another can be unclear. We examined the premises through which wildlife managers picked sides in an interspecies conflict: seabird conservation in the Gulf of Maine (GOM).

O choque do antropoceno sobre as humanidades: investigando história e ecologia a partir de Bonneuil e Moore

open access: yesDesenvolvimento e Meio Ambiente, 2020

Organizar no Antropoceno
