Ba‐Ni‐Ge Clathrate Transformation Maximizes Active Site Utilization of Nickel for Enhanced Oxygen Evolution Performance

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie International Edition, Accepted Article.
Discovering novel oxygen evolution reaction (OER) (pre)catalysts with exceptional catalytic activity and long‐term stability is pivotal for advancing technologies aimed at decarbonization. In this study, we present the ternary Ba8Ni6Ge40 phase with a clathrate structure exhibiting remarkable performance in alkaline OER. When integrated into an alkaline

An Unusual Perineal Swelling: A Cyst Between the Sphincters

open access: yesJournal of Surgical Case Reports, 2010
Epidermal cysts are very common lesions. Here we present the unusual case of an epidermal cyst occurring between the anal sphincters, presenting as a lump in the perineum.

Saarvienin A – A Novel Glycopeptide with Potent Activity against Drug‐resistant Bacteria

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie International Edition, Accepted Article.
A member of a new family of glycopeptides, named saarvienin A, was isolated from a rare actinomycete Amycolatopsis sp. YIM10. Extensive NMR and MS analyses revealed a halogenated peptide core comprising four amino acids cyclized via a ureido linkage with an exocyclic 2‐hydroxy‐3‐(4‐hydroxyphenyl)propyl residue connected to a five‐sugar/aminosugar chain.

Association between dietary calcium intake and constipation in a metabolic syndrome population: evidence from NHANES 2005–2010

open access: yesFrontiers in Nutrition
BackgroundThe global prevalence of Metabolic Syndrome (MetS) is increasing, primarily characterized by abdominal obesity, which significantly heightens the risk of cardiovascular diseases, gastrointestinal disorders, and cancers. Constipation is a common

Ribozyme‐catalyzed site‐specific labeling of RNA using O6‐alkylguanine SNAP‐tag substrates

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie International Edition, Accepted Article.
Site‐specific modification of RNAs with functional handles enables studies of RNA structure, fate, function, and interactions. Ribozymes provide an elegant way to covalently modify an RNA of interest (ROI). Here, we report that the methyltransferase ribozyme MTR1 can be employed as a versatile tool for RNA modification and labeling.

Excited‐State Basicity Diverts the Site‐Selectivity of Aromatic Deuteration: Application to the Late‐Stage Labelling of Pharmaceuticals.

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie International Edition, Accepted Article.
Isotope labelling, particularly with deuterium (2H), plays a critical role in drug discovery due to its ease of incorporation and its potential to switch unwanted metabolic transformations. Deuterium incorporation can enhance drug stability, affect pharmacokinetics, and alter metabolism pathways.
