Rethinking Chlorine: Essential Chemical or Replaceable Risk?

open access: yesChemSusChem, Accepted Article.
This review critically examines the dual nature of chlorine as both an indispensable base chemical and a potential risk. Chlorine and its by‐product hydrogen chloride play essential roles in the production of pharmaceuticals, plastics, agrochemicals, and disinfectants.

Nature, origin and significance of a clayey cave deposit: Relationship between karst and Oligocene/Miocene tephra (NW Dinarides)

open access: yesThe Depositional Record, EarlyView.
A limestone cave in the NW Dinarides exhibits an anomalous presence of montmorillonite clay, not commonly found in surrounding caves, posing questions about its origin and age. Analysis reveals a composition similar to weathered tephra from the Smrekovec Volcanic Complex, suggesting transport by north‐east winds.

Lineage labeling with zebrafish hand2 Cre and CreERT2 recombinase CRISPR knock‐ins

open access: yesDevelopmental Dynamics, EarlyView.
Abstract Background The ability to generate endogenous Cre recombinase drivers using CRISPR‐Cas9 knock‐in technology allows lineage tracing, cell type‐specific gene studies, and in vivo validation of inferred developmental trajectories from phenotypic and gene expression analyses. This report describes endogenous zebrafish hand2 Cre and CreERT2 drivers

Solid State Structures of Three Zinc(II) Coordination Polymers with 3‐(1H‐Imidazol‐1‐yl)propanoate Linkers Prepared in Water

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Inorganic Chemistry, Accepted Article.
Coordination polymers of zinc(II) with three readily accessible 3‐(1H‐imidazol‐1‐yl)propanoate ligands are prepared by combining aqueous solutions of the ligands and zinc(II) salts, resulting in a precipitation of the respective coordination polymers.
