Bioengineering Strategies for Treating Neointimal Hyperplasia in Peripheral Vasculature: Innovations and Challenges

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, Volume 14, Issue 7, March 14, 2025.
This review highlights emerging bioengineering strategies for treating neointimal hyperplasia in the peripheral vasculature, focusing on approaches that promote re‐endothelialization, modulate smooth muscle cell phenotype, reduce inflammation, mitigate oxidative stress, and optimize biomechanical compliance.

Tuberculous aneurysms of the abdominal aorta [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Vascular Surgery, 2008
Mycotic aneurysm secondary to tuberculous infection of the aorta is a rare and life-threatening disease. We report a single-center experience of three patients treated with a combination of surgical aortic replacement and prolonged antituberculosis therapy.

Structural Motifs in Soft Fibrous Tissues: Revealing Structure‐Mechanics Relationships in Deformation and Tear Resistance for Biomimetic Material Design

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This review explores how soft fibrous tissues achieve their remarkable mechanical behavior through recurring structural motifs across multiple length scales. It highlights key advances in mimicking these features using fiber‐reinforced hydrogels and hierarchical composites, offering insights into mechanical compatibility, flaw tolerance, and tear ...

Aortic Wave Dynamics and Its Influence on Left Ventricular Workload [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The pumping mechanism of the heart is pulsatile, so the heart generates pulsatile flow that enters into the compliant aorta in the form of pressure and flow waves.

Biomimetic Cell Membrane‐Coated Scaffolds for Enhanced Tissue Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This review examines the development and use of cell membrane‐coated scaffolds in tissue engineering. Bioinspired phospholipid and glycocalyx coatings enhance anti‐fouling, anti‐thrombogenic, and selective molecular recognition properties. Native cell membrane coatings further support cell‐specific interactions, immune modulation, and reduced bacterial

The Flashlight-Sign: A Novel B-Flow Based Ultrasound Finding for Detection of Intraluminal, Wall-Adherent, Floating Structures of the Abdominal Aorta and Peripheral Arteries

open access: yesDiagnostics, 2022
This study aimed to evaluate the potential diagnostic value of a novel, sonographic, B-Flow (BFl)-based sign (“flashlight sign”, FLS) for the detection of wall-adherent, floating arterial structures (WAFAS).

Rictor Ameliorates Acute Antibody‐Mediated Rejection Following Kidney Transplantation by Suppressing Macrophage M1 Polarization Through p65‐NLRP3 Axis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study elucidates the critical role of Rictor in macrophage activation in acute antibody‐mediated rejection (ABMR). Rictor increases K48‐linked ubiquitination of p65 by upregulating E3 ubiquitin ligase SOCS1, inhibiting transcriptional levels of NLRP3 and inflammasome activation.
