Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Screening
Seminars in Roentgenology, 2015Introduction Abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) is a potentially lifethreatening condition causing approximately 16,000 deaths per year in the United States (US). Most patients with AAA are asymptomatic until the aneurysm ruptures, which is uniformly fatal if untreated.

Infected Abdominal Aortic Aneurysms
Southern Medical Journal, 1987We report five cases of infected abdominal aortic aneurysm managed at the St. Thomas Hospital between 1975 and 1985. Two patients died, one before operation, and another during surgical repair of aneurysmal rupture. Three patients survived, all of whom had primary repair of the aorta or in situ Dacron graft reconstruction.

RUPTURED ABDOMINAL AORTIC ANEURYSM*
Journal of the American Geriatrics Society, 1970A bstract Rupture of an abdominal aortic aneurysm is a dire surgical emergency. The mortality rate in surgically treated cases, although declining due to better diagnosis and advances in vascular surgery, is high. However, the mortality in untreated cases is virtually 100 per

Infrarenal abdominal aortic aneurysms
Current Treatment Options in Cardiovascular Medicine, 2003Screening programs should be instituted to identify patients with small asymptomatic abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAAs) in the community. Screening for AAAs reduces the rate of aneurysm rupture and reduces death from aneurysmal disease in the population.

Endovascular repair of abdominal aortic aneurysms has become a milestone in the treatment of patients with abdominal aortic aneurysm. Technological improvement allows treatment in more and more complex cases. This review summarizes all grafts available on the market. A complete review of most important trial on this topic is provided to the best of our

‘Inflammatory’ abdominal aortic aneurysms
Clinical Radiology, 1988The term 'inflammatory aneurysm' is used to describe a variant of atherosclerotic abdominal aortic aneurysms in which the wall of the aneurysm is unusually thick and surrounded by extensive fibrosis and adhesions. Repair of these aneurysms is associated with a higher mortality and morbidity than repair of those which are non-inflammatory, so that ...

Ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysm
2021Abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAA) are relatively common. Rupture of AAA can be one of the most dramatic acute surgical problems. It is associated with up to 80% mortality. A majority of patients die before reaching hospital. Timely diagnosis and expeditious operative treatment have the potential to reduce mortality rates; currently, patients able to ...

Infected Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm
Southern Medical Journal, 1985In the surgical literature, 37 survivors of infected abdominal aortic aneurysmorrhaphy have been reported. The diagnosis is suspected if a patient with fever, leukocytosis, and abdominal pain is noted on physical examination to have a pulsatile abdominal mass. Confirmation is best obtained with computerized tomography and angiography.
