Suspected Mesenteric Malperfusion in Acute Type A Aortic Dissection During Pregnancy: A Case Report and Review of Reperfusion‐First Strategies

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 10, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Aortic dissection during pregnancy is rare but potentially catastrophic. Acute Type A aortic dissection generally requires urgent surgical repair. When visceral malperfusion is present, however, the optimal sequence of interventions may be complex, particularly when pregnancy and recent cesarean delivery increase operative risk.

The role of macrophage migration inhibitory factor (MIF) in the pathogenesis and progression of cardiovascular disease

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, Volume 183, Issue 19, Page 5732-5751, October 2026.
Abstract Cardiovascular disease (CVD) remains the leading global cause of death, driven by complex mechanisms, in which chronic inflammation plays a central role. Inflammatory pathways contribute to all stages of CVD, from endothelial dysfunction and plaque formation to erosion, rupture and myocardial injury.

Total resection of an infected aortic arch aneurysm caused by Mycobacterium avium: a case report

open access: yesJournal of Cardiothoracic Surgery, 2019
Background Infected aortic arch aneurysms caused by Mycobacterium avium are rare in immunocompetent individuals. Promptly recognizing these aneurysms is important because delays in treatment result in aneurysm rupture and a high fatality rate.

Computational analysis to assess hemodynamic forces in descending thoracic aortic aneurysms

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, Volume 604, Issue 19, Page 8112-8140, 1 October 2026.
Abstract figure legend Left: Pre‐processing. First, we perform the segmentation of the Computer Tomography angiorgraphy (angio‐CT) scans of a healthy patient, obtaining the surface of a healthy thoracic aorta with a Type III aortic arch. Then, we build nine ideal configurations with Descending Thoracic Aortic Aneurysm (DTAA), varying the aortic arch ...
