TcMAC21 mouse model recapitulates abnormal vascular physiology observed in humans with Down syndrome

open access: yesPhysiological Reports, Volume 13, Issue 11, June 2025.
Abstract People with Down syndrome (DS) have abnormal vascular physiology, demonstrated by low systolic blood pressure (BP) and low aortic stiffness that are accompanied by endothelial dysfunction. The TcMAC21 mouse model of DS has many features observed in people with DS, although vascular physiology has not been studied.

Adiponectin and gastric fundus: A potential target for gut–brain axis dysfunctions

open access: yesPhysiological Reports, Volume 13, Issue 11, June 2025.
Abstract Adiponectin (ADPN) is a pleiotropic hormone produced by adipose tissue involved in the control of body weight, energy expenditure, and feeding behaviors. Alongside a central effect, ADPN acts on peripheral organs such as the stomach, where it can favor gastric fundus relaxation, reinforcing central satiety signals.

Frailty Assessment in Aortic Stenosis based on Dynamic Interconnection between Cardiac and Motor Systems [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Background: Aortic stenosis (AS) is the most common acquired valvar disease and is associated with increased risk for frailty. Frailty as a geriatric syndrome is associated with muscle weakness and a compromised autonomic nervous system (ANS) performance in older adults.

Hierarchical LoG Bayesian Neural Network for Enhanced Aorta Segmentation [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Accurate segmentation of the aorta and its associated arch branches is crucial for diagnosing aortic diseases. While deep learning techniques have significantly improved aorta segmentation, they remain challenging due to the intricate multiscale structure and the complexity of the surrounding tissues.

A Deep Learning System for Rapid and Accurate Warning of Acute Aortic Syndrome on Non-contrast CT in China [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
The accurate and timely diagnosis of acute aortic syndromes (AAS) in patients presenting with acute chest pain remains a clinical challenge. Aortic CT angiography (CTA) is the imaging protocol of choice in patients with suspected AAS. However, due to economic and workflow constraints in China, the majority of suspected patients initially undergo non ...
