Percutaneous mechanical circulatory support for acute right heart failure: A practical approach

open access: yesESC Heart Failure, Volume 12, Issue 4, Page 2652-2668, August 2025.
This is an overview of percutaneous mechanical circulatory support options for acute right heart failure, illustrating key clinical scenarios, device types, and principles of tailored device selection based on haemodynamics and underlying pathology. Abstract Acute right heart failure (RHF) represents a critical entity with significant morbidity and ...

Lower NT‐proBNP plasma concentrations in Pacific peoples with heart failure

open access: yesESC Heart Failure, Volume 12, Issue 4, Page 2976-2984, August 2025.
NT‐proBNP plasma concentrations were measured in participants of two NZ HF cohorts and were significantly lower in Pacific peoples and Māori compared with NZ Europeans. After accounting for age, sex, BMI, eGFR, LVEF and presence of AF, NT‐proBNP plasma concentrations remained significantly lower for Pacific peoples, but not for Māori.

Multi‐microRNA diagnostic panel for heart failure with preserved ejection fraction in preclinical and clinical settings

open access: yesESC Heart Failure, Volume 12, Issue 4, Page 3028-3041, August 2025.
Abstract Aims Heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) is a complex syndrome accounting for half of heart failure cases. Although natriuretic peptides are the most accepted and extensively used biomarkers for heart failure, their diagnostic accuracy for HFpEF remains debatable.

Prenatal Characterization of Houge–Janssens Syndrome Type 2: A Case Report and Systematic Review of Fetal Phenotypes Associated With PPP2R1A Mutations

open access: yesMolecular Genetics &Genomic Medicine, Volume 13, Issue 8, August 2025.
We present the most comprehensive synthesis to date of prenatal phenotypes associated with PPP2R1A‐related neurodevelopmental disorders. Ventriculomegaly, callosal anomalies, and heart defects are key prenatal indicators, supporting early diagnosis and informed genetic counseling.
