Experimental aortic coarctation in puppies
Journal of Surgical Research, 1982Coarctation was produced in nine puppies at the age of 2 months with a simple silk ligature on the thoracic aorta. The constriction was standardized by measuring the blood pressure below the coarctation. Two of the operated puppies died. Five puppies were sham operated and they served as a control group.

Repair of neonatal aortic coarctation
Journal of Pediatric Surgery, 1995From 1981 to 1991, 146 infants under 1 month of age underwent repair of aortic coarctation. Forty-two had isolated coarctation, 53 had associated ventricular septal defect, and 51 had complex cardiac defects. The principal mode of presentation was congestive heart failure. The mean age at operation was 10.6 days.

Endovascular management of aortic coarctation
International Journal of Cardiology, 2004Surgical repair has a dramatic impact on the prognosis of aortic coarctation. However, in many units, endovascular repair by balloon angioplasty or stenting has become the primary treatment. Short-term results are excellent but there are few data on later outcome.

Correction of Aortic Coarctation
The Annals of Thoracic Surgery, 1980Abstract Experiments performed in the 1930s demonstrated the results of cross-clamping the aorta in animals. Findings from these experiments permitted cross-clamping of the aorta both above and below the origin of the ductus, in a series of ductus Botalli cases. This experience in turn led to the decision to perform a radical operation for coarctation

Aortic coarctation and the retinal microvasculature
International Journal of Cardiology, 2014Aortic coarctation has been associated with generalized vascular disease, yet little is known about retinal vascular patterns and their changes over time. The aim of this study is to characterize the nature and extent of retinal vascular disease in adults with aortic coarctation, and explore age-related effects and associations with cardiovascular ...
