Aortic valve repair

Current Opinion in Cardiology, 2016
Recently, there has been a renewed interest with regard to surgical strategies for aortic valve preservation in the presence of isolated valve disease or concomitant aortic root disease, despite concerns having been raised about the mid/long-term durability of such repair techniques for the aortic valve.

Aortic Coarctation Repair in the Adult

Journal of Cardiac Surgery, 2014
Aortic coarctation can be repaired surgically or percutaneously. The decision should be made according to the anatomy and location of the coarctation, age of the patient, presence of other cardiac lesions, and other anatomic determinants (extensive collaterals or aortic calcification).

Techniques of Aortic Valve Repair

Innovations: Technology and Techniques in Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery, 2011
Similar to mitral repair, newer methods of aortic valve reconstruction are achieving excellent outcomes with an 85% to 90% freedom from valve-related complications at 10 years. The goal of this review is to illustrate these newer and more stable techniques of aortic valve repair.

Effects of in situ fenestration stent-graft of left subclavian artery on the hemodynamics after thoracic endovascular aortic repair

Vascular, 2019
Objectives The left subclavian artery during thoracic endovascular aortic repair could be reconstructed by in situ fenestration. This study aims to evaluate the effects of thoracic endovascular aortic repair with in situ fenestration thoracic ...

Aortic valve repair for aortic stenosis in adults [PDF]

open access: possibleThe Annals of Thoracic Surgery, 1990
The stenotic aortic valve was surgically repaired in 48 adults, 21 women and 27 men, aged 38 to 83 years. Five had congenital aortic stenosis (AS), with a mean aortic valve gradient and area of 58 +/- 23 mm Hg (standard deviation) and 0.54 +/- 0.13 cm2, respectively; 32 had senile AS with a mean aortic valve gradient and area of 43 +/- 20 mm Hg and 0 ...

Endovascular Repair of the Aortic Arch

Perspectives in Vascular Surgery and Endovascular Therapy, 2007
The aortic arch is a challenging site for endovascular repair. The proximal implantation site is often wide, angulated, conical, and limited in length by the presence of vital branches to the head and arms. The only way to lengthen the implantation site without risking stroke is to provide an alternative source of inflow through endovascular or ...

Transventricular aortic cannulation for repair of aortic dissection

The Annals of Thoracic Surgery, 2001
We have used transventricular aortic cannulation as arterial inflow from the heart-lung machine in seven consecutive operations done in 1 year for acute aortic dissection. Satisfactory cardiopulmonary bypass was achieved in all patients.

Repair of neonatal aortic coarctation

Journal of Pediatric Surgery, 1995
From 1981 to 1991, 146 infants under 1 month of age underwent repair of aortic coarctation. Forty-two had isolated coarctation, 53 had associated ventricular septal defect, and 51 had complex cardiac defects. The principal mode of presentation was congestive heart failure. The mean age at operation was 10.6 days.

Aortic Coarctation Repairs

2013
The first surgical repair of aortic coarctation was performed in 1944 [1]. Since then three basic surgical methods have evolved for repair of classic short-segment aortic coarctation (CoAo): resection of the coarcted segment with end-to-end anastomosis (Fig.
