Background: Immediate open repair of acute type A aortic dissection is traditionally recommended to prevent death from aortic rupture. However, organ failure because of malperfusion syndrome (MPS) might be the most imminent life-threatening problem for a

Evaluation of the Appropriate Root Pressure for Maintaining Heartbeat during an Aortic Cross-clamp for Primary Repair of the Aortic Arch in Premature Infants with Associated Cardiac Anomalies [PDF]
We developed a new cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) method to minimize myocardial damage during aortic arch reconstruction. In this method, coronary flow and heartbeat were stabilized by maintaining the aortic root pressure with an adjusted preload of the ...

A double nellix and chimney covered stents: challenging treatment of pararenal aortic aneurysm [PDF]
A 77-year-old male patient presented with a symptomatic, 66-mm pararenal aortic aneurysm. The patient was classified as unsuitable for open surgery due to significant comorbidities.

Repair of aortic coarctation in infants
Fifty-three consecutive infants younger than 2 years underwent coarctation repair. A recoarctation occurred in 11 infants (21%). To determine variables associated with recoarctation, we entered preoperative and operative data into a multivariate stepwise logistic regression analysis.

Endovascular repair for thoracoabdominal aortic aneurysms: current status and future challenges.
Open surgical repair has been the gold standard for treatment of thoracoabdominal aortic aneurysms (TAAA). Currently, open surgical repair has been reserved mostly for young and fit patients with connective tissue disorders, using separate branch vessel ...
