ABSTRACT In nature, plants are subjected to multiple environmental stress factors simultaneously or sequentially. Recent studies revealed that when three or more stress factors impact a plant simultaneously (termed ‘multifactorial stress combination’; MFSC), plant survival declines, even if the intensity of each individual stress involved in the MFSC ...

More Science Than Art: The First Botanical Garden in Portugal (c. 1650)
ABSTRACT Gabriel Grisley, a German physician, came to Portugal and founded a garden near the Xabregas River in Lisbon, during the 1610s under the Spanish kings' rule. ABSTRACT The Astur [gentilis] superspecies comprising five species has a long record of taxonomic debate. Recent evidence based on mitochondrial data, limited genomic data and bioacoustics suggested a Nearctic‐Palearctic split of the former Holarctic species Astur gentilis, leading to a taxonomic revision of classifying Palearctic Astur gentilis and ...

Abstract figure legend A mechanistic framework linking sex‐dependent dynamical instability to proarrhythmic risk. Sex‐specific human ventricular models show that upstream modulators, including biological sex, hormones, drugs and heart disease, promote steeper APD restitution in female than male and enhance dynamical instability.

Müller glia and the retinal pigment epithelium interact around cone outer segment in the subretinal space of both zebrafish and mouse. The contacts are established early during development but subsequent to outer segment emergence. ABSTRACT Homeostasis of the vertebrate retina critically depends on two non‐neuronal cell populations, Müller glia and the

Sr‐LMO microspheres were synthesized by one‐pot spray pyrolysis, forming multi‐phase lithium manganese oxide with Sr‐doped LiMn2O4, Sr2Mn2O5, and Li2MnO3‐like domains. This structure refines particles, suppresses Jahn–Teller distortion, and adds Li+ pathways, delivering superior cycling stability and rate performance over undoped and commercial LMO ...

Abstract BACKGROUND The new European Union Wastewater Directive 2024/3019 requires upgrading sewage treatment plants to achieve 80% removal of micropollutants. This study aimed to compare different Powdered Activated Carbon dosing strategies within a hybrid Moving Bed‐Membrane Bioreactor (PAC‐MB‐MBR) system, to evaluate its performance and to study the

Integrating Diverse Approaches, Actors, and Local Knowledge: Lessons From the 61st ATBC Meeting
With roots dating back to 1963, the Association for Tropical Biology and Conservation (ATBC) has broadened its biological focus to embrace the multidimensional nature of conservation. The 61st ATBC Meeting in Oaxaca, México (2025) emphasized integrating ecological, social, and cultural dimensions through diverse approaches, actors, and knowledge ...
