The Ability of the Acute Physiology and Chronic Health Evaluation (APACHE) IV Score to Predict Mortality in a Single Tertiary Hospital [PDF]
Background The Acute Physiology and Chronic Health Evaluation (APACHE) II model has been widely used in Korea. However, there have been few studies on the APACHE IV model in Korean intensive care units (ICUs).

APOGEE: The Apache Point Observatory Galactic Evolution Experiment
APOGEE is a large-scale, NIR, high-resolution (R~20,000) spectroscopic survey of Galactic stars. It is one of the four experiments in SDSS-III. Because APOGEE will observe in the H band, it will be the first survey to pierce through Galactic dust and ...

A prediction model was developed for high‐flow nasal oxygen (HFNO) failure in acute hypoxemic patients with COVID‐19 pneumonia using predictors available prior to HFNO initiation. This stable and good‐performing model can assist in clinical decision‐making at a critical point, aiding timely intervention for patients at risk of HFNO failure.

Accounting for animal movement during aerial imaging surveys
Animals are not stationary during aerial surveys; if their movements are related to the movement of the aerial platform, then bias can be introduced into subsequent population count estimates. We sought to establish a framework for assessing the impacts of animal movement on count error and platform bias by comparing aggregated counts and relative ...

ABSTRACT Freshwater turtles are valuable sentinels of aquatic systems due to their long lifespans and resilience in environments impacted by contaminants. The Permian Basin, dominated by the oil and gas sector, spans western Texas and southeastern New Mexico, USA, including the Pecos River and its tributaries, the Delaware and Black Rivers.

Abstract Introduction This study aims to investigate patient factors affecting the rate of plasma volume target attained in hypertriglyceridemic pancreatitis (HTG‐AP) patients undergoing double filtration plasmapheresis (DFPP). Methods A retrospective analysis of 82 HTG‐AP‐interpreted patients from January 2019 to April 2024 compared target plasma ...
