Experimental High‐Throughput Electrochemistry

open access: yesChemElectroChem, Volume 13, Issue 9, 5 May 2026.
This review highlights experimental high‐throughput electrochemistry as a powerful approach to accelerate electrochemical research. Key technologies such as automated platforms, microelectrode arrays, and machine learning‐based optimization are discussed, with a focus on applications in electrocatalysis, battery research, and electrosynthesis ...

Can the APACHE II score be used to assess the risk of mortality in the elderly with hip fractures?

open access: yesMedicinski Glasnik
Aim Various predictive models have been developed to help identify patients with hip fractures with greater or lower probability of survival. The aim of this study was to establish the capacity of the APACHE II score to predict the survival of patients ...

Severity and prognosis of acute organophosphorus pesticide poisoning are indicated by C-reactive protein and copeptin levels and APACHE II score

open access: yesExperimental and Therapeutic Medicine, 2016
The aim of the present study was to investigate the plasma levels of C-reactive protein (CRP) and copeptin, in addition to the acute physiology and chronic health evaluation II (APACHE II) scores, in patients with acute organophosphorus pesticide ...

A pleiotropic “stretch” phenotype is associated with metaxylem vessel element length, axial hydraulic conductance, root elongation, water utilization, and drought adaptation in maize

open access: yesCrop Science, Volume 66, Issue 3, May/June 2026.
Abstract We tested the hypothesis that metaxylem phenotypes influence drought adaptation in maize (Zea mays L.) through in silico modeling and empirical studies under water deficit in controlled environments and in the field. Substantial genotypic variation for metaxylem vessel element length (MVEL) was observed. Longer MVEL was correlated with reduced

The Usefulness of the APACHE II Score in Obstetric Critical Care: A Structured Review.

open access: yesJournal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology Canada, 2016
OBJECTIVE To assess the performance of the Acute Physiology and Chronic Health Evaluation II (APACHE II) mortality prediction model in pregnant and recently pregnant women receiving critical care in low-, middle-, and high-income countries during the ...

Monitoring mercury across the National Wildlife Refuge System using a biosentinel approach

open access: yesThe Journal of Wildlife Management, Volume 90, Issue 4, May 2026.
We measured mercury concentrations in 1,356 dragonfly larvae collected from 30 National Wildlife Refuges across the United States and found wide variability among refuges, spanning the full range reported for other protected lands. Using a management‐focused mercury impairment index, 80% of refuges contained sites classified as moderate or higher risk.

Severity of Illness and Mortality According to Time of Admission to Intensive Care

open access: yesActa Anaesthesiologica Scandinavica, Volume 70, Issue 5, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Introduction Staffing at hospital wards is at its lowest during nighttime, which may endanger prompt recognition of the need for intensive care. High severity of illness of patients admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) in the morning may reflect delayed referral for intensive care during the night.

Avaliação da gravidade de doentes ventilados numa unidade de cuidados intensivos respiratórios pelo sistema APACHE II.

open access: yesActa Médica Portuguesa, 1992
APACHE II system, is a simple and inexpensive method to evaluate severity of Intensive Care Patients. In a 2 years period (between 1988 and 1990), grading severity using APACHE II system, was performed on 498 consecutive mechanical Ventilated Patients in
