The Differential and Interactive Effects of Aging and Mental Fatigue on Alpha Oscillations: A Resting-State Electroencephalography Study [PDF]

open access: yesBrain Sciences
Background: Both aging and cognitive fatigue are significant factors influencing alpha activity in the brain. However, the interactive effects of age and mental fatigue on the alpha spectrum and functional connectivity have not been fully elucidated ...

Average Degree of Graphs Derived From The Ammann A2 Aperiodic Tiling [PDF]

open access: green
The Ammann A2 tiling is a simple aperiodically ordered tiling of the plane. We consider the graph derived from this tiling, by treating each corner of each tile as a vertex and each side of each tile as an edge. We present a closed-form formula for the average degree of the graph corresponding to this Ammann A2 tiling.

Aperiodicity and primitive ideals of row-finite k-graphs

open access: closedInternational Journal of Mathematics, 2014
We describe the primitive ideal space of the C*-algebra of a row-finite k-graph with no sources when every ideal is gauge invariant. We characterize which spectral spaces can occur, and compute the primitive ideal space of two examples. In order to do this we prove some new results on aperiodicity.

Structural inequality and temporal brain dynamics across diverse samples [PDF]

open access: yesClinical and Translational Medicine
Background Structural income inequality – the uneven income distribution across regions or countries – could affect brain structure and function, beyond individual differences. However, the impact of structural income inequality on the brain dynamics and

Brain health in diverse settings: How age, demographics and cognition shape brain function [PDF]

open access: yesNeuroImage
Diversity in brain health is influenced by individual differences in demographics and cognition. However, most studies on brain health and diseases have typically controlled for these factors rather than explored their potential to predict brain signals.

Random walks on graphs induced by aperiodic tilings

open access: green, 2017
In this paper, simple random walks on a class of graphs induced by quasi-periodic tilings of the d-dimensional Euclidean space are investigated. In this sense, these graphs can be seen as perturbations of the Cayley graph of the N-dimensional integer lattice.

Bipartite multi-tracking in MASs with intermittent communication

open access: yesNonlinear Analysis, 2021
In this paper, a novel cluster consensus problem related with the bipartition of the graph of multi-agent systems (MASs) is studied. To track the virtual leaders and reach the expected consensus, a new type of pinning consensus protocol with aperiodic ...

Wave Transport and Localization in Prime Number Landscapes

open access: yesFrontiers in Physics, 2021
In this paper, we study the wave transport and localization properties of novel aperiodic structures that manifest the intrinsic complexity of prime number distributions in imaginary quadratic fields.
