Omnidirectional mirror based on the aperiodic and hybrid-order aperiodic-periodic chirped multilayers

open access: yesOptical Materials Express, 2023
We propose an innovative design of highly reflective omnidirectional mirror based on chirped-type aperiodic and hybrid-order aperiodic-periodic multilayered structures in the spectral range from 400 nm to 3000 nm that contains a larger part of solar radiation.

Aperiodic order and pure point diffraction [PDF]

open access: yesPhilosophical Magazine, 2008
We give a leisurely introduction into mathematical diffraction theory with a focus on pure point diffraction. In particular, we discuss various characterisations of pure point diffraction and common models arising from cut and project schemes. We finish with a list of open problems.

First-order logic and aperiodic languages

open access: yesACM SIGLOG News, 2018
A fundamental result about formal languages states: Theorem 1 A regular language is first-order definable if and only if its syntactic monoid contains no nontrivial groups. Rest assured, we will explain in the next section exactly what the various terms in the statement mean!

Quasicrystals, aperiodic order, and groupoid von Neumann algebras

open access: yesComptes Rendus. Mathématique, 2002
We introduce tight binding operators for quasicrystals that are parametrized by Delone sets. These operators can be regarded in a natural operator algebra framework that encodes the long range aperiodic order. This algebraic point of view allows us to study spectral theoretic properties.

Aperiodic order and spherical diffraction, III: The shadow transform and the diffraction formula [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Functional Analysis, 2020
We define spherical diffraction measures for a wide class of weighted point sets in commutative spaces, i.e. proper homogeneous spaces associated with Gelfand pairs.
