Effect of vermicompost on functional response of the parasitoid wasp Aphidius colemani (Hym., Braconidae) to the melon aphid, Aphis gossypii (Hem., Aphididae) [PDF]

open access: yesنامه انجمن حشره‌شناسی ایران, 2017
Changing of host plant quality via agricultural practices such as application of fertilizer may influence the behavioral traits of natural enemies. In this study, the effect of improving cucumber plants with different vermicompost: soil ratios (0:100 ...

Changing Population of Aphidius colemani in Relation to Environmental Factors

open access: yesJournal of Environmental Science and Natural Resources, 2016
Morphometric and meristic characters and truss measurements of 32 Monopterus cuchia, and of 17 Ophisternon bengalense were compared to know the population status of two fresh water eels of Bangladesh. The mean numbers of line below head were significantly different between two species. Significant differences were observed in 11 morphometric characters:

Biological Control May Fail on Pests Applied with High Doses of Insecticides: Effects of Sub-Lethal Concentrations of a Pyrethroid on the Host-Searching Behavior of the Aphid Parasitoid Aphidius colemani (Hymenoptera, Braconidae) on Aphid Pests

open access: yesAgriculture, 2021
The use of synthetic insecticides may cause failures in the biological control of insect pests due to undesired side effects on natural enemies and the rapid evolution of insecticide resistance in agroecosystems.

Biotic and abiotic modulation of drought effects on aphids and plants

open access: yesAnnals of Applied Biology, Volume 187, Issue 2, Page 142-156, September 2025.
Drought affects aphids, plants and their relationships (solid arrows). This study provides a quantitative synthesis of how biotic and abiotic factors modulate the effect of drought on aphids and plants at molecular to community scales (dashed arrows). Out of 329 pair‐wise relationships (drought‐biotic and drought‐abiotic) retrieved from the literature,

Asociaciones áfido-parasitoide (Hemiptera: Aphididae; Hymenoptera: Braconidae, Aphidiinae) en cultivos hortícolas orgánicos en Los Cardales, Buenos Aires, Argentina Aphid-parasitoid associations (Hemiptera: Aphididae; Hymenoptera: Braconidae, Aphidiinae) on organic vegetable crops in Los Cardales, Buenos Aires, Argentina

ENTOMOPHAGES IN THE CUCUMBER PLANT PROTECTION SYSTEM

open access: yesSiberian Journal of Life Sciences and Agriculture
The relevance is due to the increased requirements for the quality of the products obtained, the increase in the market value of pesticides and the increasing resistance of pests to them. In the context of the rapid development of greenhouse technologies

Bait Sprays Combined With Insecticides Targeted at Drosophila suzukii Have Negligible Impacts on Non‐Target Insects Compared to Full Foliar Spray Applications

open access: yesJournal of Applied Entomology, Volume 149, Issue 8, Page 1259-1269, September 2025.
ABSTRACT Current control of the invasive pest Drosophila suzukii relies primarily on insecticides, including the incorporation of phagostimulant baits. The impact of insecticidal bait sprays on beneficial insects in crops is largely unknown. In a laboratory and field trial, we exposed non‐target insects to insecticides with or without bait and compared

Survey of the Aphid Parasitoids (Hymenoptera: Braconidae: Aphidiinae) of Costa Rica with Information on Their Aphid (Hemiptera: Aphidoidea): Plant Associations

open access: yesPsyche: A Journal of Entomology, 2010
Species of Aphidiinae (Braconidae) have never been surveyed in Central America. Here we present the results of an initial inventory of the aphidiine species of Costa Rica and record the presence of ten species (four undetermined), in six genera.

An experimental investigation of patterns of parasitism at three spatial scales in an aphid-parasitoid system (Hymenoptera: Aphidiidae)

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Entomology, 2001
Density dependent host mortality in the interaction between the solitary endoparasitoid Aphidius colemani (Aphidiidae), and its host, the green peach aphid Myzus persicae, was examined on greenhouse peppers.

Ecological aspects of Aphidius colemani Viereck (Hymenoptera: Aphidiidae) on the Sitobion avenae (Fabricius) (Hemiptera: Aphididae) population in wheat culture in Medianeira, PR./

Aphids were the main winter-cereal problem in the 70’s in southern Brazil and it was necessary to use chemical control to avoid losses. Based in the weak performance of native parasites, 14 species of exotic parasites were introduced in 1978, and in 1984
