Finger millet, corn, and barley have different characteristics which predispose them to be used as banker plants in different specific biocontrol contexts. Abstract BACKGROUND In temperate regions, aphid biological control in greenhouses is mostly achieved by the regular release of biocontrol agents. Due to the rapid growth rate of the aphid population,

Several species of the genus Aphidius are used in biological control programs against aphid pests throughout the world and their behavior and physiology are well studied. While the importance of sensory organs in their behavior is understood, their antennal structure remains largely unknown.

Does the temperature–size rule apply to idiobiont parasitoids?
In ectotherms, the temperature–size rule (TSR) influences body size, where individuals developing at higher temperatures become smaller adults compared to those at lower temperatures. We studied Trichogramma euproctidis (Hymenoptera: Trichogrammatidae), an idiobiont parasitoid with limited access to resources, to understand the mechanisms of the TSR ...

The parasitoid Aphidius colemani developed normally (approximately 90% adult emergence) when its cotton aphid (Aphis gossypii) host was treated with Verticillum lecanii conidia 5 or 7 days after parasitization. Fungus exposure 1 day before or up to 3 days after parasitization, however, reduced A. colemani emergence from 0 to 10%.

Aphis fabae and Myzus persicae (Hemiptera: Aphididae) are insect pests that damage sugar beet and bean crops. Both are responsible for losses in yield and transmission of viral diseases, and may be present on the same host at the same time.

Aphids (Hemiptera: Aphididae) are the main pest of wheat (Hemiptera: Aphididae) in several countries. In Brazil, the Biological Control of Wheat Aphids released millions of aphid parasitoids (Hymenoptera: Braconidae and Aphelinidae) on wheat fields and ...
