Flupyradifurone induces transgenerational hormesis effects in the cowpea aphid, Aphis craccivora

Ecotoxicology, 2022
With low-dose stimulation and high-dose inhibition, insecticide-induced hormesis, a biphasic phenomenon, can contribute to pest resurgence. The cowpea aphid, Aphis craccivora (Koch) (Homoptera: Aphididae), is a vital insect that infests legume crops. Its hormesis of flupyradifurone has not been previously established. Age-stage two-sex life analysis is

EFFECTS OF BOTANICAL OILS ON APHIS CRACCIVORA Koch (HOMOPTERA: APHIDIDAE)

Bangladesh Journal of Entomology, 2022
In the present study, five botanical oils namely sesame, castor, groundnut, pongamia and black cumin were tested against the adult of Aphis craccivora Koch to evaluate the toxic and repellent effects under laboratory conditions (25+- 5 degree C, 65-75% RH).

Mechanism of resistance to pirimicarb in the cowpea aphid Aphis craccivora

Crop Protection, 2017
Abstract A resistant strain of Aphis craccivora Koch was selected with pirimicarb for 12 generations. The selected strain exhibited 47-fold resistance compared to the susceptible laboratory strain. The resistant strain also showed cross-resistance to carbosulfan, malathion, chlorpyrifos methyl and thiamethoxam.

RESISTANCE TO APHIS CRACCIVORA (HOMOPTERA:APHIDIDAE) IN SELECTED VARIETIES OF COWPEA

Journal of Entomological Science, 1985
Nearly 200 varieties of cowpea, Vigna unguiculata (L.) Walp, were screened for resistance to the cowpea aphid, Aphis craccivora Koch. Three varieties known to be resistant in West Africa were highly susceptible to an aphid population from the southern United States.

Ecological studies on Aphis craccivora Koch

Zeitschrift für Angewandte Entomologie, 1982
AbstractThis paper deals with the effect of 5 photoperiods on the immature stages of A. craccivora. In case of nymphs taken from adults exposed to different photoperiods, the durations of the nymphal instars were unaffected, with the exception of 16 h and 12 h photoperiod, where the duration was significantly decreased.

Efficacy of biorational insecticides against aphids, Aphis craccivora in amaranthus

Pest Management in Horticultural Ecosystems, 2022
A field experiment was conducted to study the bioefficacy of biorationals against cowpea aphid, Aphis craccivora infesting amaranthus during rabi 2019–20 at the Zonal Agricultural and Horticultural Research Station (ZAHRS), Shivamogga. Out of six biorationals evaluated, the highest per cent reduction of aphid population was recorded in Lecanicillium ...

Resistance in lima bean to Aphis craccivora (Hemiptera: Aphididae)

Phytoparasitica, 2019
The cowpea aphid (Aphis craccivora) can be an important pest on lima bean (Phaseolus lunatus L.). The objective of this work was to evaluate the effect of different genotypes of lima bean on the biology of A. craccivora and to identify possible sources of resistance to aphids under laboratory conditions. Two trials were set up, an antibiosis and a free-

Effects of pyriproxyfen on development and hormone of the aphis, Aphis craccivora (Hemiptera: Aphididae)

Journal of Economic Entomology
Abstract Pyriproxyfen (PPF) has been shown to affect the pupal stage and ecdysone levels in holometabolous insects, such as silkworms and mealworms. It remains unknown whether it affects hemimetabolous insects with their hormone levels in insects lacking a pupal stage. In this laboratory study, bioassays were conducted to investigate the

Spread of Groundnut Rosette Virus by Aphis craccivora (Koch)

Nature, 1964
IT has been known for many years1 that close spacing of groundnuts, Arachis hypogaea L., reduces the incidence of groundnut rosette in a crop. Storey and Ryland2 pointed out that there was a reduction in the number of rosette virus-infected plants per unit area of land, as well as the reduction in percentage infection that would be expected with larger
