A case of nonvalvular endocarditis with biventricular apical infected thrombi
Echocardiography, 2020AbstractWe report what appears to be the first case of biopsy‐proven nonvalvular endocarditis with biventricular apical infected thrombi. A 47‐year‐old man presented with hypoxic respiratory failure from a multilobar pneumonia due to methicillin‐resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA).

Infection of Apical Dentin and Root-end Cavity Disinfection
Journal of Endodontics, 2012The purpose of this study was to assess Enterococcus faecalis penetration into the dentin of the apical 3 mm and bacterial death after the application of either chlorhexidine or laser to root-end cavities.Root canals of 60 single-rooted teeth were prepared.

[The technology of apical infection control].
Hua xi kou qiang yi xue za zhi = Huaxi kouqiang yixue zazhi = West China journal of stomatology, 2015Root canal therapy is the most efficient way to treat pulptitis and periapical inflammation, which can clear infections of root canal systems, fill the root canal firmly, and avoid reinfection. However, the variations in root canal morphology and complexity of infection confer difficulty in thoroughly eliminating microorganisms and their by-products in

Apical infection spreading to adjacent teeth: a case report
Oral Surgery, Oral Medicine, Oral Pathology, Oral Radiology, and Endodontology, 2011This case report describes apical infection on tooth number 24 that spread to adjacent teeth, resulting in devitalized teeth numbers 23 and 25. The 25-year-old Caucasian female patient was referred to the endodontic resident clinic because of uncontrolled apical infection.

Bacteria in the apical 5 mm of infected root canals
Journal of Endodontics, 1991Ten freshly extracted teeth which had carious pulpal exposures and periapical lesions contiguous with the root apex were placed inside an anaerobic chamber and the apical 5 mm of the root canals cultured. In addition to anaerobic incubation, duplicate cultures were incubated aerobically.

Examination of 41 extracted, apically infected mandibular cheek teeth (CT) without obvious causes of infection included radiography, computerised axial tomography and decalcified and undecalcified histology. In CT with recent infections, some pulps remained viable, with proliferative soft and calcified tissue changes confined to the apex.
