First detection of Apis mellifera filamentous virus in Apis cerana cerana in China
Journal of Invertebrate Pathology, 2016Although many honey bee RNA viruses have been correlated with colony declines, little is known regarding the potential role of DNA viruses. Here, we examined seemingly healthy and crawling bee samples from China using PCR to identify whether Apis mellifera filamentous virus (AmFV) was present in A. cerana cerana.

Expression of the melittin gene of Apis cerana cerana in Escherichia coli
Protein Expression and Purification, 2004A cDNA encoding melittin in Apis cerana cerana was obtained by PCR from the recombinant plasmid and cloned into the GST fusion expression vector pGEX-4T-2 for expression of the protein. The expressed protein of about 29 kDa was detected by Western blot and triple antibody sandwich ELISA, indicating that the recombinant protein is the fusion protein of ...

Fox transcription factor AccGRF1 in response to glyphosate stress in Apis cerana cerana
Pesticide Biochemistry and Physiology, 2023Glyphosate is an herbicide commonly used in agriculture, and its widespread use has adversely affected the survival of nontarget organisms. Among these organisms, bees in particular are important pollinators, and declining bee populations have severely affected crop yields around the world.

Chalkbrood is the most common fungal disease in honeybees. The objective of this study was to reveal immune responses in the Apis cerana cerana larval gut following Ascosphaera apis invasion. Combining a previously assembled transcriptome of A. c. cerana larval gut and the high-throughput sequencing data obtained in this study, 6152 differentially ...

In this study, the proteins contained in royal jelly (RJ) derived from Chinese and European honeybees have been analyzed in detail and compared. Remarkable differences were found in the heterogeneity of major royal jelly proteins (MRJPs), MRJP2 and MRJP3, in terms of molecular weight and isoelectric points between the two species of RJ. MRJP2 and MRJP3

Comparative antennal transcriptome of Apis cerana cerana from four developmental stages
Gene, 2018Apis cerana cerana, an important endemic honey bee species in China, possesses valuable characteristics such as a sensitive olfactory system, good foraging ability, and strong resistance to parasitic mites. Here, we performed transcriptome sequencing of the antenna, the major chemosensory organ of the bee, using an Illumina sequencer, to identify ...

[Overwintering and size dynamic characters of Apis cerana cerana].
Ying yong sheng tai xue bao = The journal of applied ecology, 2003A systematic observation and research was conducted on the overwintering and size dynamic characters of Apis cerana cerana at south and west mountaneous area of Anhui Province in 1998-2003. The results showed that the center temperature of overwintering bee flock changed synchronously with the outside temperature. With the decrease of overwintering bee

The effects of Bt Cry1Ah toxin on worker honeybees (Apis mellifera ligustica and Apis cerana cerana)
Apidologie, 2011We conducted feeding trials in a laboratory setting to test for possible adverse effects of Cry1Ah toxin mixed thoroughly into sugar syrup (60% w/v sucrose solution) at three concentrations (10 μg/mL, 10 ng/mL, and 1 ng/mL) on the survival, pollen consumption, and hypopharyngeal gland mass of Apis mellifera ligustica and Apis cerana cerana.
