A comparative analysis of colour preferences in temperate and tropical social bees [PDF]
This is the final version of the article. Available from Springer Verlag via the DOI in this record. The spontaneous occurrence of colour preferences without learning has been demonstrated in several insect species; however, the underlying mechanisms are ...

We performed a community science investigation with the beekeepers nationwide to find phenotypic mutants. Alongside a beekeeper in Kentucky, we performed a GWAS to identify a region associated with a white‐eye phenotype. We identified an eight bp region in a non‐coding RNA strongly associated with white eyes.

Analysis on safety assessment of Tephrosia vogelii Hook to Apis cerana cerana
Tephrosia vogelii Hook was excellent insecticidal plant, it was introduced into China and planted over a large area in Guangdong province. The main active components of T. vogelii was rotenone and it widely found in leaves and pods of T. vogelii. This paper study of the safety assessment of T. vogelii flowers to worker bees.

Genetic Basis of UV Bullseye Size Variations in Turnip Rape (Brassica rapa subsp. oleifera)
ABSTRACT Floral ultraviolet (UV) patterns are visible to bee pollinators and can affect crop yields by impacting pollinator visitation. However, the mechanisms underlying the intraspecific variations of UV bullseye size remain largely unknown. We analyse the ecological consequences and genetic basis of floral UV bullseye size variation in an important ...

Evidence for convergent nucleotide evolution and high allelic turnover rates at the complementary sex determiner (csd) gene of western and Asian honey bees [PDF]
Our understanding of the impact of recombination, mutation, genetic drift and selection on the evolution of a single gene is still limited. Here we investigate the impact of all of these evolutionary forces at the complementary sex determiner (csd) gene ...

Scent Goes Digital: The Role of Insect Odorant Binding Proteins in Modern Technology
This review delves into bioinspired olfactory biosensors, focusing on insect odorant binding proteins (OBPs) as core elements of hybrid bionic platforms for volatile compound detection. Highlighting the development of the biological electronic nose (BE‐NOSE), it examines current prototypes, outlines advantages over conventional methods, and explores ...

Genetic Allee Effects for Controlling Invasive Populations
ABSTRACT Invasive pests threaten food security and devastate ecosystems. A universal problem in their management is that small populations can easily evade detection. This makes identifying new incursions challenging and complicates efforts to eradicate or contain established populations.

Role of Apis cerana cerana N-terminal asparagine amidohydrolase (AccNtan1) in oxidative stress
AbstractN-Terminal asparagine amidohydrolase is a component of the ubiquitin-dependent N-end rule pathway of protein degradation that has been implicated in a variety of physiological functions, including the sensing of heme, oxygen, nitric oxide, selective elimination of misfolded proteins and the repair of DNA.

Fending for Thyself: Honey Bees From Ethiopia Inflict Physical Damage on Varroa destructor
This study assessed grooming and hygienic behaviors of Apis mellifera simensis in Ethiopia's Amhara region across landscapes and seasons. Despite Varroa mite levels occasionally exceeding economic thresholds, bees maintained low infestations through strong social immunity traits, suggesting natural tolerance rather than resistance.
