Questions on the taxonomic status of species of Protoholozoa Kott 1969 (Ascidiacea, Aplousobranchia, Holozoidae) with a description of a new genus

Zootaxa, 2020
Among numerous ascidians, two colonies of the deep species Protoholozoa pedunculata Kott, 1969 were collected in 2017 by the French Poker 4 survey, Indian Ocean. The larvae of this species are described here for the first time. The present material shows the disposition of adhesive papillae in a line and incubation in the atrial cavity.

Aplousobranchia ascidians in Andaman and Nicobar Islands: a combined morphological and molecular discrimination

Mitochondrial DNA Part A, 2017
Aplousobranchia ascidians from two different families were integrated with morphological characteristics and molecular phylogenetic analysis for the first time. The present study employed morphological descriptions (colony structures, tunic, zooids, spicules stigmata and test) and a molecular approach, using a fragment of the mitochondrial cytochrome ...

Pattern of stigma numbers as a taxonomic character in some didemnid ascidians (Aplousobranchia: Didemnidae)

Zootaxa, 2013
Colonial animals are often lacking in taxonomic characters due to their small size and the simple morphology of zooids. Since zooid size is nearly uniform in many colonial ascidians, the stigma numbers in each row can be a useful taxonomic character. To evaluate their potential utility, we investigated intraspecific variations in stigma patterns in a ...

Polyclinidae (Ascidiacea: Aplousobranchia) from the Gulf of Mexico, collected during the “Hourglass” cruises (1965–1967)

Zootaxa, 2018
This paper presents the ascidians from the Family Polyclinidae collected in the Gulf of Mexico during the Hourglass Cruises between August 1965 and November 1967. The analysis of the collected material revealed the presence of eight polyclinid ascidians from three different genera, with two new species and two new records for the Gulf of Mexico.
